Hoping they will work OK for now without being rebuilt.
Same fuel pump will go on the car later.
Interesting. Never saw a hollowed out trigger before.
There's a video somewhere about how to fix that ! Looking.....Mines been in a box for 10+ years but I seem to remember mine being a bit floppy. I guess there’s no way to tighten that up for most mirrors?
I did the spring loaded nail set, mine didn’t flop for a little while then back to flopping, these new $107 mirror set has a screw in the back to tighten itThanks! That’ll save me some money. I was prepared to have to get another mirror for 50 some bucks.
I’ve also seen people suggest red lock tight or clear nail polish on the ball but the punch trick sounds better.
Just bought this head, the mate to another I picked up a couple years back. Date matching my jan built '66 vette has been tough. Most of these rec. port heads have sunken seats, no mag certs. or massive porting.....or well over $2k for bare heads. Glad I found this one and it's within driving distance.
I've got the built short block, both heads now, the correct dated water pump, correct intake, and still looking for exhaust manifolds and carb. Neither are necessary for my initial needs since the exhaust won't be factory size and the carb is cloaked, and I'm not going for ncrs. I do need the correct clutch fan, still looking for that.

Recently watched Richard Holdner dyno an L78 that had 291 heads but 1 head had a water leak so he said he had these 858 heads that were the same head, L78 in stock form made 425ish hp on his dyno with headers, manifolds brought it down around 370'sHave not, but if you're listening Derek... I'll dig up the part numbers a bit later.
It's a single Holley in 66, tri-power started in 67. I prefer a single carb by a landslide.

An old friend in the local Chevelle club had an 18k mile unrestored original LS6. They pulled and freshened up the engine since it had sat for 35+ years, and put it on the dyno before they put it back in the car.Recently watched Richard Holdner dyno an L78 that had 291 heads but 1 head had a water leak so he said he had these 858 heads that were the same head, L78 in stock form made 425ish hp on his dyno with headers, manifolds brought it down around 370's
