What’d you buy?

Here is a PSA:

When you are installing your driveshaft back into the vehicle, it is best to make sure that the rear u-joint straps are actually lined up on both holes before torquing them down. If this step is skipped, you will have a bad vibration that starts at about 20 MPH.
To clarify both front & rear lined up correct, IIRC how I did mine

I was installing the bolts while being on the left side of the car. When I was twisting the bottom bolt in, the pinion yoke strap moved off to the side and I didn't see it (it was at the top on the right). The bolt went in to the yoke only, so the strap was not secured.

Your yoke wasn’t threaded? Mine has straps & bolts no nuts, does yours use nuts? I’ll have to double check mine maybe I’m wrong

As my post stated, the strap was not lined up with the hole. It uses strap/bolts, not a u-bolt w/ nuts. The 8.2" & 8.5" all used straps as far as I know. Only the 12 bolts used u-bolts.

This is what is uses:

I’m going over there tomorrow to take some pics since I’m not not sure what holds the front U joint in but I do have an extra strap set on top of a tool box there, probably from the last DS

It's a press-fit with internal c-clips that holds the front u-joint.
It's easy to have a needle bearing fall out and screw it up !
You line the cap up and squeeze it in.

Done that plenty of times, I forgot to put my thinking cap on when I said I needed to take pics, PST put this new one on, this TCI trans does have a hard 1-2 shift and Brian mentioned that's what eventually tore his rear end up, only thing left that is stock is where the DS & U joint connect to the rear end

The rearend on my car was not torn up. The slip yoke that goes into the transmission is what shattered on the 1-2 shift.

Never seen caps pounded in like that, don't look like they fit very tight either.
I didn’t watch the vid but it reminded me how I do it, dad showed me that in the 70’s Edit I use a socket to finish getting the cap in the rest of the way and No hammer involved 🙂

Using coupons for a little discount I bought the Horror Freight powder coating gun and a pound of the matte black power for brake parts. I have a little toaster oven for small part and am waiting for a free oven to show up on CL for bigger parts. IMG_3243.jpegIMG_3244.jpegAlso ordered some adapters to connect my small shop vac to my Dustopper and then to my bench top blast cabinet to clean parts. I’ve not used any dust control on the cabinet and mostly you can’t see shit so I’m looking forward to actually being able to see what I’m doing.

Don't have to have this right away, but I want to buy everything I need to finish my cars before Fucktard attacks China and then we won't be able to buy anything !
For the 68 Camaro with LS3 engine : 1-7/8" tube stainless headers that fit good for less than $400 ? I was shocked.
And they come with O2 bungs welded in.

That’s a Heck of a great deal, after checking fit going to get them coated to keep under hood temps down?

If I didn’t just get Scamed I bought these 496 side marker emblems, paying a new member on OCS was crazy, then he needed the $52 for shipping after he finally gave me a good way to pay him, Apple gift card, so all in all $152, guy sounds like a scammer so we’ll see, Oh now he’s saying he didn’t get the $52 for shipping and wants it again, I told him I’m Done Playing! and hoping I’m getting parts not a box of rocks or nothing at all lol
