Liberty safes

I hope you all have heard about Liberty safe company giving the FBI a master code to access an Arkansas man, Nathan Hughes. Home gun safe. They raided his home and indeed opened his safe. Not knowing what they took. I have no intention of owning a safe that the manufacturer will give government access too.

They suck for doing that and I'm sure a law suit is coming. You can change the tumblers to a custom combo, similar in theory as a garage door opener, but I've never done it.

Their safes are trash, anyways. If you want a safe that is going to keep your stuff secure, go with a Sturdy Safe with a mechanical dial (or twin dials). The code that Liberty would have provided would have been for an electronic lock. The ONLY other safe that matches the ones from Study are the Amsec BF series. Sturdy Safe products are 100% American made.

That makes sense, shitty company, shitty safes!

I never felt comfortable having an electronic safe. The safe I bought was used and the old manual dial type. A safe guy taught me how to change the combination and I did change it. When we moved from the last place I gave it to my cousin because it was too big too move for us.

Can't remember the make is was, but it was the size of a side by side refrigerator and took 3 to 4 guys to move it. We kept all the guns (except for 3 handguns), money, and papers in it.

Mine has a Made in USA tag on the back but I’m not going to screw the floor up trying to slide it out since it took me and a big friend to put it here lol, factory combo was changed the 1st day 👍🙂 and Fuck Liberty for giving that combo to the Feds, they should’ve said Hire a Locksmith or What you guys don’t have a Safe Cracker on Payroll? 😆

See that giant gap between the body of the safe and the door? That is what makes other safes easy to break into (relatively speaking). On my Sturdy safe, you can't even fit a dime between the body and the door - no way you will get a crow bar in there. Sturdy Safe has some videos on their site that show why their safes are the best.

I get all the feedback on why not to own an electronic safe . But this is about a company aiding and abetting the government. Doesn’t matter if thier safes are made of plastic. They need to change thier name from Liberty safe to Liberal not so safe! My 2 cents.

They should not have given anything out - period. They can defy those warrants and there really isn't a whole lot that anyone can do about it. There needs to be limits on what government can do.

I might buy a safe just as a decoy. If a criminal gets the drop on you, do you really want all your valuables in a safe ?
Put a few cheap things in it that you can afford to lose.
Build a hiding place for your valuable stuff. JMHO

Good lord, this has turned into a gun safe commercial! WTH? Never mind!
You start a thread with this group and you never know where it can go ! :ROFLMAO:

I use a safe for fire protection of documents, not security, so that could double as a decoy.

We have an unusually deep closet and when I first bought this safe I thought of putting it in the back of the closet, build a fake wall that was removable but at the time we had a police trained 100lb German Shepard so I figured WTH, we now have a 90 Blk Lab/Cane Corso mix that don't like strangers and bites and 4 other Barkers, besides the neighborhood we live in looks pretty Poor  And never tell anyone you even have a Safe,,,,,,,Now Forget my earlier post :ROFLMAO:

I have a fire safe in the basement next to my reloading bench. It's pretty much full of powder, primers & ammunition. I don't even keep it locked. Anything I have of real value is in the safety deposit box at my bank.

After Covid there is no way I would use a bank. When they are closed there is no way to get your stuff.

Wonder how long it’ll be before AI will be opening the bank door at your scheduled time to let you in to talk to an AI to get your stuff,,,if AI says Okay we deem it’s Necessary for you to have it
