I thought I had a thread on this somewhere but can’t find it, anyway finally took it out for a spin and WOW what a nice surprise, 1st to 2nd hits hard enough to put you right back into the seat without even getting on it, I’m trying to get use to the way the Horseshoe shifter with Shiftworks ratchet detent works but I’ll either get use to it or get a RMV kit for the B&M Quicksilver console shifter and install it, love the Firm shifts compared to the RV T400 and not even feeling shifts, Pls excuse the crap on the carpet I haven’t cleaned it up yet 🙂 pics are sitting at a red light, can’t really shift a pic at same time lol Oh Dash Cam time, new thread about that coming up

I was reading a thread on OCS and might be swapping the Horseshoe shifter out and my B&M Quicksilver for 68-72 Chevelle in, another guy was in my same shoes and Hated the same detent I'm not too sure I like to the QS just by moving a pin in the detent to make it a 4spd RMVB shifter but B&M doesn't make the correct Lense yet80F85B7E-7F02-421F-93A3-ECBD6624FE16.jpeg

I wonder if there's a reproduction Hurst "dual-gate" shifter.
You slide the stick sideways and it becomes a "slap shifter", changing one gear at a time.
I loved those shifters for automatics.

If there's one made for a 4 spd I'd probably need the console to match, only console shifter that I know of for 68-72 Chevelle is the Horse shoe/Staple or QS shifters, operating the gate on mine is a PITA, IMO the detent shouldn't need the gate at all N-4 and back, then it would be a true Ratchet, guy on ocs said he was the First to buy this same detent and Hated Fumbling with it but Loves the QS just not the cover and going to Fab his own, I'm OK with the cover

I have an OEM factory "his and her's" dual gate in the '68 GTO clone and works as you described.

I'm going to fiddle around with the QS on a bench before taking the H shifter back apart and if it seems better than the H I'm swapping them out just will show a regular 3 spd lens

Rick, I think you're referring to the OCS thread where he discussed the B&M Quicksilver shifter and settled on mod'ing a Megashifter and making a top plate for it. Turned out amazing.

As for the converter, yes I liked my Freakshow (2800) from several years ago. Sold it with the old TH350. New TH350 currently in the 70 is a Precision 3000.

Love both those converters and the best I've ever driven.

I screwed the B&M to a piece of plywood to see how it’d work after pulling that pin out and like it much better, it’s going in as soon as I get some extra time, gotta get home mommas callin 😁

Actually I got in a thread about “Which trans behind a 550ish BBC?” and recd a 200-4r, most are recd a 4le80 and some say Manual V body so no electronics, I thought a separate electronic thing was needed but I think it’s still needed if you want full auto

I do have a B&M slap shifter if you want it, but it only comes with a plastic chrome cover and no console.
Thanks Kevin, just seen this was doing an ac system change out today but I bought this from a member on OCS in classifieds a few months back for $150 to my door since I didn’t know if I’d like the 4spd RMVB for the stock type shifter and I like the QS a Whole lot better, if it’d been designed the same as the QS it’d be great since it matches the car but oh well 🙂

I've run a TH350 in almost everything and never had issues. The local Trans shop that built my current TH350 runs a 1800hp with a TH350. Built right, it will be fine.

In the 80's I had a nicely built 467 around 525-550hp in a 73 Elky with a quality built T-350 but don't remember brand or stall speed of the street friendly conv but it held up great

I've had that DPJ Fab in my 70 Chevelle and 68 Camaro for a few years.

It works the same as stated in the video for my staple shifter. The DPJ ratchets / slaps from 1st to 2nd, and then to 3rd without squeezing the lock. And wont jump to 3rd / D.

The competitor Shiftworks (originally in the Camaro prior to the DPJ) , only 'shifts / slaps' between 1st and 2nd by squeezing the shifter lock, holding it and pushing forward. (the lifted gate hits the stop). Then 'slap / ratchets' forward into 3rd without squeezing it. If you try to slap it forward from 1st without squeezing the shifter lock, it pushes straight to 3rd / Drive.

If staying with the stock Staple Shifter and someone wants a true style ratchet shift, its the DPJ.
