Oil Filter Prices

With 3 Ford Fusions with 2.5L engines I buy a lot of Motorcraft FL-910S filters. Not to long ago I was paying $3.50 for them. Today I went to order some form Amazon and they are $8.70 each, WalMart has them for $8.44. Oreillys $11.99. A WIX filter is $12.99. Hard to believe on July 2nd I paid $5.93.

A couple years ago the stores around me were saying they were backordered on a lot of filters, and low stock of a lot of others.

When I bought 4 of the same filter they asked if I needed all of them now because it was all they had... and yes, I needed all 4 that weekend to do oil changes on the Chevelle, Silverado, G8, and Corvette which all use the same filter (all LS based engines)

Sorry the PF35 was replaced by PF1218

Napa was out of their Gold filter last time I changed my work van oil so I used an AC Delco but was IIRC $12+, I’m ordering them from Amazon from now on since I’m a Prime member and usually get free shipping, I like helping by buying locally but not at Double the prices

And that`s how these places go out of business. They have to know people will buy on line. How they stay in business is beyond me.
The only time I buy something from Napa or any of the other chain stores, is when I need it now, not tomorrow.

Oreilly's will price-match, so I often buy things locally at Summit prices... no idea if they're making any money, but it's quick and convenient for me.

I bought a case off Amazon for way cheaper per unit than buying them at NAPA. NAPA is a ripoff.
I was very annoyed with Napa when I went there for front & rear seals for a 200-4r trans, gal says "What Year & Model?" I said late 80's Buick Grand National, she says "They Only came with 7004r trans" she's been there a fairly long time and nobody else around to ask, so I told the shop owner that was doing the trans swap this and asked him to handle the seals, he said he knew her and chuckled
