Toby Keith -- RIP

Yes, Rest in peace Toby.
Saw him at the Durham Fair in Ct. way back in 1998 when he first started getting big.
He was there with Loretta Lynn and 38 Special.
I remember when my son got married, we all went on a cruise to St. Thomas and one night, they had karaoke and my nephew got up and sang Should`ve been a cowboy.:ROFLMAO:
He will be missed. :(

My father in law was a huge fan and he and my wife got tickets to see him every year when his tour came around. We had tickets to see his last tour date that never happened. I got to see him a few times too and grew to really enjoy his music. He was my gateway back into modern country. The guy knew how to make hits and was a genuine patriot. My dog was named Toby in his honor.

The saw the stories recently about him finishing his cancer treatment and hoped to get back to touring. Rip Mr Keith.

"Don't Let The Old Man In"....something we all should live by...I try toI That phrase is also one of Clint Eastwood's sayings for many years now! Toby will be hugely missed...NOBODY sounds like him in my book! RIP...Good Guy!

I know he was a big time supporter of the military did a lot of shows in Iraq and Afghanistan. Every time we saw him his last song was American Soldier and as the song ended he’d say “never apologize for being patriotic and if someone doesn’t like it, fuck ‘em!”

I see the tolerant left are at it again.
Assholes!

Those dixie cunts don't even have enough class to offer condolences? Fuck those rotten cunts and their entire bloodlines. Hope they fucking die horrible deaths.

Toby Keith was one of the good guys and I have much respect for the way he honored and supported our service members.

Pretty sure one of them did die recently. Car accident I think.
I’m guessing TK didn’t give a second thought to their decades old beef. But maybe liberals and especially DC fans are miserable, hateful cunts?

Edit. I guess it was a founding member. Last album was 1993 so I don’t think she was involved in the spat with TK.

Yeah, I just don't get how they can be so disrespectful, but it's the lead singer Natalie Maines who has issues, Toby Keith stated he didn't want to fight and she persisted saying they were embarrassed because of America and Bush.

The Dixie Chicks caught alot of shit and ultimately lost alot of standing and fans because of it which is pretty much why you don't hear about them anymore.

Liberals have a screwed up way of looking at things, but conservatives have enough class to at least extend condolences even to their rivals because in the end even if we believe differently, we're all still human (well, most of us except the dickhead in the WH).

Still stinging a bit from the loss of Toby. He sang songs that really resonated with me. When a man can sing about truth, convictions, and Jesus, he has my attention. RIP Toby. I'm hurtin' from your loss.

Here are the lyrics and song.

Sometimes think that war is necessary
Every night I pray for peace on Earth
I hand out my dollars to the homeless
But believe that every able soul should work
My Father gave me my shotgun
That I'll hand down to my son
Try to teach him everything it means

I'm a man of my convictions
Call me wrong
Call me right
But I bring my better angels to every fight
You may not like where I'm goin'
But you sure know where I stand
Hate me if you want to
Love me if you can

I stand by my right to speak freely
But I worry 'bout what kids learn from TV
And before all the debating turns to words and hate
Sometimes we should just agree to disagree
I believe that Jesus
Looks down here and sees us
If you ask Him he would say

I'm a man of my convictions
Call me wrong
Call me right
But I bring my better angels to every fight
You may not like where I'm goin'
But you sure know where I stand
Hate me if you want to
Love me if you can

I'm a man of my convictions
Call me wrong
Call me right
But I bring my better angels to every fight
You may not like where I'm goin'
But you sure know where I stand
Hate me if you want to
Love me if you can

I am stinging too. Listening to him on IHeart yesterday and then Alan Jackson/Jimmy Buffett came on. Toby and Jimmy, two of the greats that are gone.

I ran across this on YouTube. I’ll admit, it was very touching and got damn dusty in this room watching it.

As I said my father in law is a huge fan. He was a member of his fan club. Other than Bay Area sports, I know of nothing else he’s a “fan” of. No actors, other musicians, celebrities, etc…..but he’s a big TK fan. Cookouts in the backyard he proudly blasts TK music in his exclusive gated neighborhood. Christmas dinner at their house and it’s TK Christmas albums all day long.
My MIL says he’s cried a lot over the last few days. More than he’s cried when his own parents died.
TK was beloved. Rest in peace.

I'm, always reminded of John Wayne, who, when asked about JFK winning the election, said "I didn't vote for the man, but he is my presidend and I wish him well"
He also sent a congratualtory telegram, saying "congratuations from the loyal opposition"
Does ANYONE in Hollywood have the class or deceny to act that way now?
I think, no, I KNOW not!
