"Cash for clunkers" 2.0.
Now, who were those people that assured me this would never happen again?
CA loons hate classic cars, they are doing everything they can to make owning them so onerous everyone (Except the RICH!) will somehow buy an EV they cannot afford.
Just one more example of coddling the lunatics at the expense of everyone else.

Why would the ad show a 69 Camaro worth several times what they are offering in almost any condition rather than an 82 Buick Omega?

Because they were trying to flip classic cars. Take the garbage, strip it for parts and sell, but once in a while they would get a gem they could make some serious money off of. Very deceptive.

I remember once upon a time ago (in my teens), we buy cars for anywhere from $25 to $250, beat the snot out of them, then sell them to the junkyard for $25 to $75 with no title. Now they want the car running, drivable, clear title, and a full tank of gas.

Ahh, so it’s a third party that buys old cars. If they can make money off parts cool, whatever is left over they scrap and get paid by the state for having crushed an older car.

I hate to see usable cars scrapped or crushed. I had a 92 Accord that I just sold to a tow truck driver for $200 because I was tired of having it leave me stranded. But it had north of 260,000 miles with very little new parts other than battery and timing belt changes. Still the original alternator. It could have been fixed but it was a beater. I loved that I could park it anywhere with no shits given.

They don't want cars that are not road worthy or junk, only cars on the road.

I traded my Perfectly running , No Leaks 96 RAM with a 318 auto fairly new dual Flowmaster exhaust for a new 09 Ram ( 96 needed a large dent repair in the bed) my friend found it in a JY and pulled the Exh off, said they poured Block Cement or something probably cheaper into it to Ruin a Perfectly running engine, I really liked that truck, Oh Pencil Fuck trade in was $4,550 which was Way more than that truck was worth
