Rare Unknown Pontiac's that are cool

That is when cars were cars, in 40 years nobody will be looking at a Nissan Altima as a barn find collector item, but I may be wrong, I wouldn't mind having a Chevette or a T1000 :)

Lisa had a vette..... chevette that is. First car and her mother forced her to buy it to learn how to drive a stick. Cooked the clutch in short order, but she learned.

I did have a Vega though. It was a 4 banger when I got it and it smoked more than I did. I used to stop at the gas station and fill it with oil, and then checked the gas. When I dropped in a 350/350, that car became so much fun, but pushing it took its toll. Wracked the whole unibody because it was way too much for it to handle and I never did anything to strengthen the body. Fun while it lasted. Shocked the hell out of people when the car took off like a shot and I could run circles around damn near anything.

I also have a '64 Olds Starfire Convertible. Only 2,410 made for '64 and parts are impossible to get for it. I bought about $4k of used parts to put it back together, but talk about a land cruiser. I bet you could run over a herd of cows and not even realize it. My sheriff neighbor saw the car and his first words were, "You could fit alot of bodies in that trunk".

There was a Chevette with a SBC swap on Facebook Northern NJ that looked pretty clean & didn't look like a hack job. Car did not look like a rust bucket either. Guy was asking $5500 If I find it I'll post it so you could see it

A friend of mine is Pontiac nut, and I always tell him that the Canadians really knew how to build Pontiacs.
Derek, those Canadian Pontiacs came with Chevrolet engines directly from the factory. The air filter lids even had the Poncho arrow sign with the engine size and HP callouts. In that video the guy points out the Chevy chrome equipped gas & brake pedals then lists the standard and optional engines.
standard 6 was 230-L6 -- standard V8--283 optional V8's were 327-275HP- 396 V8-325HP --427 V8 390HP (IIRC on that last one)
If I'm not mistaken all the Pontiac's in Canada were factory Chevy equipped till sometime in the late 60's or early 70's I have no idea why GM did this. ???

My first car was almost a 66 Grand Prix. 421, auto on the floor with buckets. Cool ass car.
Mine too ---I saw a 64 GP near where I lived so after school me and my best friend from HS went to look at it. IT WAS A 4 SPEED !!! He was asking $400. I was head over heels I talked to the guy late on Friday all I (we) had was 10$ and he wouldn't take it as downpayment I told him I would take the money out of the bank on Monday,he said OK.
Later that weekend I saw the GP driving around and knew something had happened. Over the weekend the guy sold it to a kid from HS that lived on his block and I got to watch that kid drive that GP all around our neighborhood and near high school too.

That's a sucky story.... missed it by that much.
In 1976 my good friends dad bought 3 SS Chevelles from Pa. that were pretty rusty but ran great, he was going to sell me a 70 SS396 4 spd, Gold with black bucket/console int. & top for what he paid $250, I asked him to wait till Friday when my dad payed me and I'd come over to buy the car, he said OK, well he sold it before Friday but I never seen the car again, that'd really Suck to see it driving around town, he also had a Daytona Yellow 69 SS L78 4 spd & a 68 Butternut SS396 all blk vinyl tops & int. and all 4 spd

The guy was a dick-head he said he'd give me till Monday morning because back then my bank didn't have weekend hours. He sold the car either Sat night or Sunday because I saw it later on Sunday driving around.
No big deal I got my 1st car a couple months later. A 67 LeMans 326 w/ buckets console $50 (y) Lost the whole pipe off the y-pipe so I put a Cherry bomb on the end of the Y-pipe and a strap hanger from Two Guys auto dept. I loved those Pontiacs back then, still do .

Another dickhead with a car to sell. I think people like this think they are going to get stuck with a car so they don't want to wait no matter what they had agreed to before with someone.

Lots of dickheads in our hobby, buck mightier than their word. This was a dozen years back, but I was at a local swap and found a '69 malibu roller I liked and only had $400 in my pocket so I struck a deal, believe it was $1200 for the car and gave him $200 down. This was early and I asked him if he'd give me a few hours to get the rest, knowing I had a buddy that kept cash on hand. He agreed and that time allowed me to see the swap. He came running up to me an hour later with my money and said the deal's off. I gave him an earful, but he didn't much care, the money difference was all that mattered to him. Lesson learned though, and I come prepared. Almost lost a deal on the '66 vette the same way but that guy was a bit more reasonable. I asked him "who brings $25k to a swap meet?" his response......"you'd be surprised".

I offered to buy numerous cars and Harleys and got the idea the owners didn’t want to see someone they knew enjoying the vehicle so sold to someone they either didn’t know or in another county, that happened with 1 friend with a nice 67 Mustang GT that he put a late model Fox body 302 & 5 spd then needed a lousey $5K so sold it to someone across the Bay and another with a 72 Elky sold for $2K running and looked fine for a DD and $10K for a nice 64 LeMans With a 69 GTO engine and factory 4 spd & posi rear, factory Black/Black, and I told both if they ever wanted to sell let me know, a 57 Harley and a few others, I think maybe it just bothers some people seeing friends with what was once their pride & joy, maybe I’m wrong? Myself I’ve had to sell stuff I didn’t want to sell but always offered whatever to friends first, I’d rather see a friend have something nice rather than someone I don’t even know

The most I used to keep on hand was like $5k and it was in our safe and scattered around the house in different spots. I always told Lisa to keep cash on hand for "just in case", and it's paid off multiple times.

What really bothered me was my dad and I were very good family friends and my friends dad knew I worked for my dad and my dad always fixed their broken appliances for next to nothing since we were all friends & neighbors, I should’ve just asked my dad for an advance but I got screwed of my 67 Camaro doing that less than a year earlier EDIT I should add they also gave me a Muncie 4 spd for the Camaro and my friend & me put it in

I had a 71 GT-37 455 4spd car on the early 80's and also a '71 Ventura (Nova style) and both were fun cars to blast around in.
