Zinc Additive

I have been wondering if I need to start adding Zinc to my flat tappets. I use Rotella Diesel oil in the Chevelles because I have heard it has the needed additives. Conventional oil is getting harder to find and I fear switching them to synthetics will cause issues (and leaks). Thoughts?

Mogul is another good oil, diesel oils went South for flat tappet engine protection like Richard mentioned

Back in the olden days, my grandpa told me the most important thing about oil was to change it. Now we have all kinds of stuff.

I run vr1 or Penn grade but still have a case of brad Penn from a dozen years back. Bought probably 8 cases at an estate sale for $40 per case...... nobody wanted it so I got lucky.

When I got the 19 I changed & put T6 in, burned almost 2quarts in 5K miles. Went back to Delvac & no oil usage.

My truck is louder with T6, IDK why. I had to use T6 1 time during the Covid BS and I noticed a difference, I now stock up on the Delo. 15 Quart oil changes every 5,000 milles have to be financially planned for.
