Larson SBC valve covers, $1,200

Not really wanting to sell them but pretty desperate to raise funds to buy a CNC mill and nothing else seems to be getting any interest.
I have a little paint clean up to do but I painted and polished them, they look great and are VERY rare.
These have the crossed flags on them.
Pics are prior to polish and paint.
They clear the Scorpion rockers and really do create a unique look.
I will post new pics once I detail the paint.

Do not want to put these on feeBay, I would have to get $1,500 with all their fees.
WOW! Guy on feeBay is trying to get $3.2K for a "New" set.

I listed these at $1,500 everywhere else.

EDIT: Spelling corrected, LARSON.

I am already on borrowed time for buying the mill, it could sell out from under me at any moment.
Mill is cheap at $2K, but moving it is another $4K.
I am waiting on money I am owed, but not $6K worth.
I have some of the money and thought I had more, but the guy buying the Porsche trans backed out on me.
I can go back to my original plan, Corvette covers with spacers to clear the rollers.
Certainly not as special as these but will get me running when I am ready.
Need a way to make money that does not depend on a long commute and a strong back.
Hoping to make roller rockers for cars the big guys are not interested in, some other "Billet" parts too.

No way could I part with those, I was going to ask if those will clear a brake booster but I'm thinking you're going with manual brakes anyway

Never really thought about the booster as I intend to go with dual MC's and an adjustable bias bar.
I "Think" they will clear but do not have a Chevelle handy to measure from.

You'll be fine. Big block Chevlles have less clearance than a smallblock and they didn't need valve covers with a notch to clear the booster.

Those Absolutely beautiful Larsen VC’s do look pretty tall, man if I had a SBC Id love to have those just to see peoples eyes get big when you pop the hood

Richard you could probably sell those on the OCS but Id do anything to try to keep them, Ive sold so many things over the years and Kicked myself square in the ass afterwards

Have to raise at least $6K PDQ to buy a VMC so that I MIGHT be able to come up with some products to sell.
SS is not a liveable income, particularly when most of it goes to the mortgage.
In theory once I get the VMC I could make more of these from billet.
If something else I have listed sells first I can take these back off the market.

Playing the devil's advocate Richard, what makes you think you can afford to get the machine running in proficient manner and line up work to satisfy the monetary need in short order? Not trying to be a downer at all, but from a logical standpoint, unless you have a niche market and already have waiting clients and money they are ready to spend, to me it's more like pissing money away on a wish and a dream. If money is that tight, seems to me the most logical thing to do is to part with some of the projects you have to get stable transportation, and focus on only one project instead of scattering your funds across many projects that'll likely never see completion in a timely manner. Not trying to sound like a dick, but that's what I see from my vantage point.

I used to manufacture several niche items on my old (Really old!) VMC's.
Had to let the VMC's and CNC Lathe go when agents of our benevolent Gov. Org. walked in my door and announced they were there to "Help" me. :poop:
About thirty days later I was out of business and having to move, tools sold to fund buying a home. :poop::poop:
Now a little over three years later I am trying to recover having a life.
Already cutting the fleet down pretty severely, currently down to nine cars from fifteen.
Trying to get down to no more than six, including the big truck I was gifted* and Mom's T-Bird.
Cars are my only real vice, no TV, no dope or booze.

Recently tried to get together a group buy for some roller rockers to fit the Lotus.
Price quote was over $10K for an eight set minimum!
For that sort of cost I will have the VMC and the ability to make all the roller rockers, GOOD Weber air filter housings, valve covers, mold dies, and anything else I can imagine for a 3-axis VMC to do.
It is claimed that the secret to not losing our minds is to continually learn new things, refreshing my CAD-CAM skills should take care of that.
I am getting the old but low hours VMC "Cheap", as it is dirty and in a very rural location.
If I cannot make a go of it, I should be able to recoup my money as it will then be clean and near to real cities like Reno and Sacramento.

*Land Rover 101FC Missile Carrier is worth over $20K, but the condition of the gift was that I cannot sell it. ;)
Unless Peter dies before I do, he's a multi-millionaire so I'm pretty sure he has the better health care.
He's also the only old friend of over thirty years I have left, despite his being stuck in the land of fruits and nuts.
Rover is a really cool 4x4 to have and play with, but top speed is about sixty and ten-twelve MPG at this altitude.

Banks have money... I really don't like to borrow, but if the machine can fund the payments and get the side business running sooner you can weigh the interest against the lost opportunity cost by waiting.

I'd be borrowing what is needed to secure the deal at least. Interest will be minimal if you pay it off as soon as something sells.

Not enough money involved for a loan.
Bank won't even talk to you for less than $10K and usually $20K min.
Supposed to have just sold a Triumph rolling chassis that gets me most of the way there.

I put them on feeBay with a $1,500 starting bid.
Over 75 looks so far and 7 watchers.
I have also had questions and a guy trying to get his wife to Okay a bid.
I am semi-confident of a sale Thursday evening.
If not I expect to get a couple of low-ball offers.
I have to list higher on feeBay as they manipulate the "12%" fee to become more like 20%.
If I sell the covers I have the cash for the VMC, then the trick becomes getting the funds to ship it.

It looked like they would not sell but I finally got a bid.
May get another but I doubt it, I should end up with my $1,200 after feeBay takes their cut.

Now I need to figure out how to get a set of Corvette script valve covers to fit with the shaft rockers.
They will be a bit of a joke, when I was a kid EVERY Chevy up for sale was claimed to have a "Corvette engine!" in it.
Still see a lot of that even today.

Dug out my old tall chrome Moroso covers.
Yes, they do clear the shaft rockers.
But BLEAH, they sure are plain and boring compared to the Larsons!
Good enough for test running but NOT what will be permanent.
