Brother's 60th birthday

kmakar

Janitor
Had an enjoyable afternoon with my brother and friends relaxing and celebrating his birthday today. I find taking time off to relax not so unbearable, and seeing old friends makes that time even more precious to me. I guess I'm starting to enjoy life more and worrying less about accomplishing tasks and pushing myself.

I haven't seen Copeland (the gentleman in the middle between my brother and myself) in about 5 years and it's like no time has passed since the last time we hung out. What a great humble guy he is.

What kind of cake ?
Looks like he has enough wood to heat for 10 years ! :)
Wow, and what a nice covered patio !

Wow, and what a nice covered patio !

No cake, just wine, beer, and company.

That wood is just for smoking meat, and that's enough to smoke for 1 year.

His covered patio isn't really a patio at all, it's part of an extended roof to create a covered area. That whole area is 30' x 110' and big enough to use as an outdoor roller rink.

Cows in his backyard? How cool is that? I surely miss the scents of seasoned wood, cattle, and all the green.

Yep, those are his cows. He has about 30 and that's where our beef comes from. He owns 50 acres and corrals the cows (and bull) from field to field to let each field recover. He gets about 10 new head each year and sends them to slaughter once a year (the ones he selects for age and size).

I'm a carrot cake guy and my sister bakes them the real way. Brought a store bought version over for Easter and got an earful......but since she brought the real deal, I was okay with the end result.

I don't discriminate when it comes to cakes.
I like chocolate, lemon, strawberry, carrot and all kinds of combos.
Cake should not be dried out and I don't like sugary icing. Lite-whipped icing is the best
With ice cream
