Durango Windows

My 2000 Durango is notorious for having bad window regulators. Yesterday the passenger front window started creeping down, ok, I know what that is, been a few years since replacement. We got home and my wife opened and closed the Right rear door and that window fell down. Crap.

I dig into my file cabinet, pull out the lifetime warranty receipts for both units, take out the regulators and off to the parts stores. 2008 is one receipt, 2012 the other. The parts guys were shocked I still had them, those regulators break every 2-6 years in all of the doors. Replacements will be in today and tomorrow.

I bought these specifically for this truck:

I bet if you put a bead of silicone in the window channel & put the window up it would stay up.

Just a minor inconvenience when you need to pay a toll.... been there, done that. Had the driver's side window stuffed with a wedge to keep it up, but had to get out to pay a toll on the George Washington in NYC.

For some reason the local folk were pissed I had to stop the car and get out. 😁

They're assholes anyway right.

A simple pulley system over the roof and a dangling cord through the driver's window would satisfy bubba. An epoxied handle with a small bungy would work for the near side. Stay tuned for more remedial science.

I had the opposite problem in an old POS Nissan truck I had years ago. I was driving down a busy road on the way home from work, and I couldn't get the window to go down. So while I'm driving down the road, I push down with one hand. All of the sudden, WHOOOM!! The window flies downward, through the rusted out door bottom, and shatters all over the road. People behind me were swerving to get into the other lane. That wasn't the first or last time that truck would embarrass me. Ran great though....

While you made a joke about it, I had a friend who was just that stupid..... his electric window stopped working, he called me up and asked if I could help him replace his door on the weekend. I asked if got in an accident or something and he said no, his electric window stopped working. I started laughing at him, he got pissed and asked what was so funny, and I told him just the electric motor needed to be replaced. He was quiet for a moment and said, "Really?". I told him to call autozone and get a motor and I stopped by and fixed it that night.
