What’d you buy?

I think those get good reviews, many a discussion over at Dean's hammertime forum.
I think I'll wait until it's time to install the engine. I can buy them direct from Holley; they are 100 miles from me.
My only concern is a huge price increase could happen.

I just found out today ac equipment is going up 3-6% early Jan, so might want to lock the price in somehow

You’ll gain a few hp from 1 7/8” to 2”, I actually have more room for spark plug changes than I thought I would, 2” would’ve been nice but I’m not changing now for the small gain Oh for O2 bungs Puttem in the collector adapter
I was at Jegs and managed to get another $50 off, so I bought the ceramic-coated Hooker Super Comps with 2" primaries for $480.
I have plenty of hammers so they should fit ok
:)

An old broom stick and hammer or if you need a sharper dimple use the corner edge of a piece of hardwood if you need dimples 👍😁

I’m going to get off my butt finally and upgrade my bench top blast cabinet a bit. It’s this badboy. Just the generic Chinese cabinet sold under dozens of different brands.

It’s got the fluorescent light tube that’s not quite good enough. I wanted to add more light so I’m going to try these Dollar Store LED lights. Says 150 lumens which might be optimistic but they seem pretty bright and in a small cabinet I think a couple will help. I’ll stick them in a ziplock to prevent sand intrusion. They already have pretty strong magnets on the back.

Got this pair of NOS early 70s Doug Thorley BB headers on Marketplace for $150

I think they're tri-5 but not sure. Price was right, so I took a chance on them.

They're not in my possession yet, they're about 3hrs away, so a buddy is meeting the guy tomorrow and bringing them up my way in a couple weeks.

Those are the equal length (tuned) style. Cost about double a normal set would. (y)

Not sure if it's just the pic but the R header flange looks longer than L, have your buddy put the flanges together to be sure ports & bolt holes match

The quote feature isn't working for me. That's about the best price you will find for FMJ, unless you shop around for bulk ammunition. I pretty much concentrate on buying hollow points now, as they are what is needed. Palmetto State Armory had the 9mm I posted above for $7.99 a box, which is a phenomenal price - the .45 ACP was $9.99, which is also phenomenal.

LAX Ammuniiton has 1,000 rounds of 9mm 115 grain for $245.30, which is about 24.5 cents per round. If you are a first time buyer, you will get free shipping.

They are cool, don't know my DT history enough to say, but the orange paint should narrow the era down a bit. This from the HAMB....

Actually here is the real scoop. The original company that Doug Thorley started was a muffler shop back in 1958 in East LA. In the early 60's Doug started to make headers and "Headers by Doug" stickers started showing up on winning drag cars. Doug and wife Betty sold the company and got divorced and new owner Micky called it Doug Thorley Headers. A number of years went by and Micky got sick and asked for help. Betty came back in to run things and Micky got worse. He ended up selling the company back to Betty, Doug and a third partner. Doug mainly did R&D and was an investor. Eventually He and Betty had another falling out and she agreed to buy him out. Doug kind of stayed away at this time, occasionally coming around to help out with a little R&D and collect his payments. Betty then got sick and at this time Doug started doing custom headers again under the Doug's Headers name. During this time Doug Thorley Headers was mainly making truck and motor home headers, not muscle car or performance parts. Betty passed and Doug started making production headers again for the classic and muscle car markets. After about another year, the surviving partner sold Doug Thorley Headers to Summit Industries (not the mail order guys) in Corona, Ca who previously had bought out Jerry Jardine of Jardine Headers.
PerTronix, who had previously acquired Ermie Immerso Ind and Thunderbird Headers bought Doug's Headers and Doug worked to help keep the Doug's Headers line a top quality product. PerTronix sells and manufactures them as a premium line to compliment their Patriot Header line. They are currently made in Rancho Dominguez (think north Long Beach) CA.
Doug was also famous for his drag cars - The Chevy II Much that is in the NHRA museum, the Funny Car Corviar that Joe Piasano ended up with, and the pair of rear/mid engined Javelin's.

I read a few years ago when I was looking for headers that PerTronix owned Doug’s Headers and Patriot Headers, I was thinking they’re the same with a different name plate?
