Lots have come and gone. CE was way more political back in the day, it was mild when they killed it.
I'll second that on Gene, I've bent the elbow with him many a time at car shows, and he's always been straight up. I can't reconcile that with the Gene I know from TC. He is smart, though.
I had avoided Bench racing for a while when the hammer came down saying only car related stuff, but it's clearly not all car related stuff. I don't want to get banned and I'm not trying to skirt the rules. I thought it was a settled deal but some other bitch who clearly didn't even see the original post but assumed that because it was censored, it must have been "obsessing over a political agenda" had to drag it up again.

It'd been months since I'd been there (since I'd been banned), but when Dean was bragging about what he was doing on our site, it was a moral imperative to investigate.
The results were posted here for all to see. Unless they at OCS act more stupid than usual, I won't go back there again.

My account is still active, I rarely go there, if I snoop I go anonymous.
I’m not sure why they should care about this site. Maybe in my innocent, childlike mind, they should understand that this site would not exist if not for the fact that it provides a service or feature that they chose not to provide. If I’m Walmart and I choose not to sell car batteries I can’t be mad that someone goes to another store to get their car battery. I can’t expect them to just not have a car battery out of loyalty to them.
The OCS has decades of archives and a tremendous list of active users. This site is not a threat to their existence and has done nothing to undermine them.
I’m happy to have access to the knowledge base from both. I see Derek there too. It’s a win win. If they are mad that forum cornerstones have left, they should look within to see what made decades long members leave.

Our mere existence bothers them. If you notice though the traffic on this site exceeds theirs from time to time, so it was their choosing to do what they did.
I honestly don’t know how their traffic compares to this site, but I know theirs is sadly a shell of their former glory. Questions sit unanswered for days and longer. I feel like questions get answered there when the answer is convenient. Here I feel like people go out of their way to try to help. It’s Probably the difference between a site where people are invested and friendly and a site where people are not.
I can’t help but feel that the off topic stuff is what stimulates people to visit and spend time. If you are a near lifelong Chevelle expert, answering newbs questions about the correct bolt size is not what will get you To visit the site frequently.

Maybe 20 years ago off topics were not as popular, but since now it almost engulfs every facet of our lives, it strands to reason having a site that encompasses any topic is a win / win. The people here are more friendly and want to help, and we all have opinions on everyday matters as well.
I see it as healthy to be able to discuss and or let it out, and wouldn't have it any other way. I think this is the way a site should be, not restrictive. It's called FREEDOM.
