My first experience with split rims was getting taught tire repair at 14 years old in a gas station. We inflated the tires under the legs of the center post lift after it was lowered over the tire and rim. A couple of months go by and my dad heard what I was doing. He said you cannot do that. I said OK...and kept doing what I was doing. Just damn lucky I didn't get my head blown off.
