Got this opening in the dash finished after work today, the rounded edges the Dremel left work great as a "click stop" for the vent wheels I almost used a file to square the corners but now Im leaving them rounded, pres tested before mounting evap case and good on ac side but I have a leak on water side, couldnt hear it with compressed dry nitro but with my refrig leak detector it lit up like an Xmas tree so back out with the evap unit and think Ill bench test for a leaking fitting this time

The center dash vent looks great, just like factory. (y)

Found the leak using 410a refrigerant and my infrared sniffer, put 80 psi of dry nitro in it with a 3/8 nylon hose in 1 ear then slowly went over fittings and hose clamps but cant hear worth a darn anymore but found it and tightened the clamp so all good 👍😁 now to get it back under the dash and fastened to the firewall 😐 Oh the leak bubbles worked with the nitro but I wanted to be 100% sure No other leaks, I put the evap coil in a vacuum till I get far enough to evap the whole system, dont want any moisture or other crap getting in there, 2nd thought Im putting 10-12 psi dry nitrogen in it, got the 2 top mounting bolts in and my neck is saying ENOUGH !! LOL

I don't like to drive my old cars in the wintertime.
In Tennessee, it's unbearable to drive without ac from May to October. (y)

With our Washington summers it would be nice if I drove. Almost every car/truck I’ve owed had no ac and I usually close my vent now. Guess I like the heat. I do like what you are doing.

Washington State is probably one of the few areas you can do without ac. But you sure do need good windshield wipers !

I went over the rusted area at the right bottom corner with Rustoleum Rust Restorer paint then when it dried to the touch I primed the whole area, still have a run or 2 to sand out then maybe another coat of primer, more I think about the dash more I want to punch the guy I paid in the mouth...but Im older and wiser now...I think anyway, I think I did a good job with a wire cup brush and drill then hand sanded that rusty area before I sprayed the Restorer 👍

Well here's the latest hold up, dash control panel has wrong angle unless Im looking at it wrong, bottom angle hits the radio and doesnt let the control go all the way in to put the screws in

Can the top and bottom flanges be bent to change the angle so it will fit flat against the dash ?
And maybe shorten the flanges with a cutoff wheel ?
You'll think of something !

Beth you got me thinking, I might use the Dremmel cut off wheel or Zip Bit and cut some meat out of the bottom section that's giving me trouble 👍🙂
