Vintage A/C

I figured how Im going to run the lines straight on through the Firewall LOL, it wont look bad kinda like factory heater hoses when I mount them to the inner fender...what the heck, also need to get a 90° for the heater hose hook up as the ones that came in the kit now hit the liquid line 90° that's meant to have a straight so I'll have to see about getting 1 of those, Im not hooking the heat up but want to stub short hoses down just in case

Since this is designed to go straight to the kick panel then out and Im going straight through the fire wall the liquid line hits the top heater hose pipe so Im rerouting the top pipe, hope it works out ok but I think itll be fine and of course I have the correct solder but left my low temp propane torch at home lol

Got a little more done, wish they would've came up with a way to use factory defrost duct, spray glue and duct tape should keep this behind the dash from being a problem

Guess I should have cleaned this before posting a pic, not really happy with a spot or 2 and I hate soft soldering, I ended up cutting the factory duct out after trying to think of every way to save it but was getting to the point rip the entire dash out or cut it, I can see solder on the inside but that really doesnt mean much as far as it can still leak, Im going to nitrogen pressure test it 👍🙂...I'm just ordering a 90* fitting part #121018 from VA for $10 plus shipping

Go to ebay user johnjoysyl, they have every fitting you can imagine. I'be bought from him for years on custom a/c builds.

I already ordered it from Summit, at least Im hoping to do a decent dash paint job with the 2K Hot Rod Satin Black I bought a while back now that the dash is pretty well stripped

I had a decent size roll of FatMat left over so added some around the evap firewall area then thought what the heck put some inside the door shell for a sound deadener next will be pulling the drv door panel off to do the same, rear area I sprayed Duplicolor rubber under coating since I had a bunch for spraying replacement ac heat pump accumilators after installing them

Well the fitting came today so after work while it was still over cast from the rain we had I went over and put it on the evap, measured 3 times to get ready to drill 2 more holes through the firewall and the Sun Burst out and clouds were gone and it jumped to 150° 🌞😳 well it felt like it anyway so I packed it up, think I might go back over in a bit to test fit evap, I also reveresed the the bolt inst that had the nuts on the firewall under the hood and put the bolts through the firewall and retainer clips inside the car, I think itll give a cleaner look under the hood Minus the hoses coming through..Oh I still need another 90° hose
😏 And they sent this add with the fitting and had I seen these before placing my order Id of got free shipping because I would've order a few , next order Im getting some for the 5 Furry Kids 😁

Love progress !

If you are keeping that garage, put a Mr Cool in it ! 18, 24 or 36K

I have an 18k in the walk-out basement and 36k handling the entire house (and it's powered by solar)

This is just a rental garage across from my ac stuff and Harley storage, Fn city wouldnt let me put up a metal prefab garage behind my house long story, I thought for sure I had a roll of insul tape but guess Ill have to wait till tomorrow to wrap the 2 refrig lines that will sweat without it, going to Dremel the dash next for the center vent, still on the fence about cutting for the astro vents

Think Im going to finish this hole off with flat & tri files to get a smoother edge, getting too damn hot in here again at 2:45 pm, my planned garage that fell through for permitting already had a 12K Gree mini split I picked up cheap it was a display model that the model was getting disco'd but after sitting on it for over 1 yr I finally sold it installed Edit I repurosed some of the original defrost duct to work for the center dash vent, should work good
