Pour is done, now to wait for it to get a bit stiffer so they can polish it.

Slab is done. They'll be back at 7am tomorrow to cut the relief cuts. He'll cut it in 10' blocks. When it's cured 30 days I'll silicone the cracks shut (so they don't fill with dirt) and that'll keep it clean and have the ability to crack on the cut lines.

Brian (owner of Capps Concrete) is wetting the slab down to slow the drying to reduce shrinkage. He's a good guy and will let me rent his skidsteer for 100 a day so I can backfill and grade around the building.

You are so lucky / when we go to do our Garage we need to go down much farther / hopefully not 4' / as we are on Rock from the Cdn Shield

When I lived in Connecticut, we regularly poured basements, so we dug the footers at 10' to 12' with most times being in hard clay / boulders the size of cars, so I'm familiar with that.

Here in Florida you'd be hard pressed to find anyone with a conventional basement like up north.

When we built our house we put in a basement, it was hard to find a contractor to do it. I am so glad we held out and found one to tackle the job.
