What’d you buy?

An old friend in the local Chevelle club had an 18k mile unrestored original LS6. They pulled and freshened up the engine since it had sat for 35+ years, and put it on the dyno before they put it back in the car.

All stock it made 452hp.
Headers and a 1" carb spacer made 60hp gain to 512hp!
We dynoed my engine with a 1” open spacer but when I was putting the hood on I had to remove it for clearance then I asked the builder what I lost, he said the spacer was worth around 20hp, BBC

New Spectecles from the eyeglass lab I work on, new MERV 10 ac filters for our home and the place I buy our filters at also sells my favorite duct tape & PVC cement and on the way home 5 gal. Sunoco Non Eth 93 for the Chevelle, good smelling greenish blue gas

This stuff just keeps showing up at my house. The first one is to upgrade my PS5 (there is a 2TB secondary drive in it now and it fills up too quickly), and the second one is just going to be used for a backup drive.

4TB SSD For PS5 12-12-2023.jpg

I'm betting that the gaming hardware gets pretty pricey now. I haven't played any computer games since Wolfenstein around 1991 I'd guess. Cost a fortune back then to buy the PC hardware just to play it.

I paid $600 for my PS3 back in the day. I didn't purchase a PS4 until they had been out for a few years and paid about $180 for a used one. My PS5 was $600. The 2TB expansion drive that I put in it shortly after I got it cost me about $335. I just paid over $100 less for the 4TB expansion drive that I am putting in tonight. SSD prices have plummeted, which is weird since everything else has gone up. Controllers are $69 - $75 (depending on the color, which is also weird), but I picked up a couple for $49 on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which was awesome. Most games are $69.99 now.

All my kids got an xbox but I have no idea how much they cost. Lisa got them for the kids when they were old enough and responsible. It started for the kids when they each got a Gameboy (I think). We then started with the a Wii game console for the family but we gave it away when the kids said it was boring. I never played it.

I have sold off many of my classic systems, because I never use them. I have sold so far: Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Sega Genesis Nomad, Atari Lynx, Atari 5200, Atari Jaguar, & a Sega Dreamcast (this one pulled in over $500). I still have to sell an original X-Box, an Intellvision with several games, 2 Atari 2600s with tons of games and controllers, a Commodore 16, a Commodore Vic-20, and a Commodore 64.

That's really not much money for a hobby you enjoy. Just be glad you're not addicted to golf :)
It costs $50 to $100 to play 18 holes nowadays

Last time I played golf with friends was on base at Camp Lejuene in 1982 and it cost $8 for 9 holes and that included the golf cart. We were usually drunk by noon, so hanging out and drinking was the fun part. We all sucked at golfing.

Just got a new knife. Microtech Dirac Delta. OTF (out the front) automatic. The action is fast and solid. It has M390 steel which should hold a good edge. The only thing about it that I don't like is the pocket clip, it's too tight. I hope it will loosen up a little over time. I've always liked my Benchmades, but this knife beats the Infidel, which is the Benchmade comparable. The Delta is fast, except for the pocket clip, and very sharp for fine work, but not really practical for everyday carry. I keep one of the Benchmades in my pocket for rough work.

Clip can't be bent a little to ease the tension?

My everyday carry is a Benchmade Titanium w/M390 blade. Holds an edge very well. M390 is so hard, I send it back to Benchmade to have it sharpened. It also has a titanium clip that is super tight.
I have lost a couple Benchmade's because of loose clips. So I have learned to love the tight clips. That Microtech is sweet.

Replaced my volt/ohm meter, $23.00.
Old one blew two fuses and the ceramic fuse can only be found on-line, at about $20.00 after shipping. (n)
