What’d you buy?

Super Bowl in Las Vegas, I’m calling Dell tomorrow since I think mine might be to old to upgrade, nice laptop and usually works fine when I’m patient lol
I don't like, care for or watch any football, when sports news comes on the radio, I change the station.

IMO Sports SUCK and those whiney liberal ass players making millions off of contracts and endorsements can all go to hell!

I agree to an extent, Whiney players, Overpaid, Didn't see any Kneelers, and did see players with hands over their hearts during singing of NA, (I watched that part) I was in another room watching Netflix "Revolver" with Jason Stathom but my wife's a FB fan and her fav team the Chiefs won in OT, she woke me up to let me know lol

I must have missed this last night, I just ordered it and should be here by 3pm, when I get the Doongle I'll come back here to ask directions to install so I don't F it up :)

Intalling it is as easy as plugging it in. You may have to install the driver software for it, but if you are running Windows 10, it may have a driver for it already (it will automatically install). Just be aware that the USB WiFi adapters rarely deliver their promised speeds.

I do want to clarify something. 5G is not the same thing as 5 GHz WiFi (even though some 5G networks run in a 5 GHz band) Your existing wireless card in the laptop supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. The only thing that the USB adapter will do is to theoretically deliver faster wireless speeds - but that is not guaranteed. What we need to know is which internet service you have coming into your house.

Are you on copper cable or fiber optic?

Are you using a 5G modem from Verizon or T-Mobile?

Which wireless router are you using (or modem/router combo, which I despise - they never work as well as a stand alone modem with a separate wireless router)?

Where is your wireless router located in relation to where you use the laptop?

There are several things that can factor in to why you aren't getting the speeds that you think you should.

My new truck is scheduled to be built today... so not only a monday build, but the day after the superbowl. 🤦‍♂️

We have Frontier FIOS (previously Verizon) fiber optic, I also have 2 Google Home WiFi boosters around the house, main modem is right behind where I normally sit so 2’ away from me, I also did a speed test

I've always laughed about the Friday/Monday build deal, in the 60-70's probably something to worry about but these days I'm sure No Body wants to jeopardize their career

I am presuming that your laptop is hooked up on the 2.4 GHz band of the access points. I would try switching it to the 5 GHz band and see if anything changes. Just click on the wireless icon in the lower right corner of the screen and see if your network name comes up denoting 5 GHz.

It’s stuck in Airplane mode
