I had a welding friend whose mailbox kept getting knocked down by a neighbor because of the position of the driveway, he made one so rigid that when it was hit, it stood up and the car took a lot of damage.
That Fucker. Someone owes you a new mailbox & an apology. If I had to guess, your new mailbox will be "Built Back Better."
Then make one that will break away but do substantial damage to the offenders car. I have a large 4x4 post, support buried 3' into the thick Carolina red clay, just put it in a few months ago. The old box was there for 20 years with no issues.Nope, been down this road before. I put in a steel pole and welded a mailbox to the top and was then told by the cops (in CT) if someone hits it and gets hurt, I can be sued because the mailbox and post didn't break away.
I just told Lisa that if I catch the fucker I'll punch his fucking lights out. I used my metal skills and straightened it out, but the bad part is I just figured out my spot welder shit the bed, so I had to use self tappers to hold it together.

Maybe try a White mailbox. It's less racist.

Why would a mailbox have to brake away? What a out all the brick encased mailboxes where all you can see is the door. It is a residential street after all.
I'd paint the post Fluorescent Yellow or what about using contact cement spray glue and reflective tape?
Mailbox swings. What is so funny if a box is so reinforced the bat bounces off of it and busts a car's rear window glass.Mine swings away if hit but many years ago someone either hit it & was hanging out of the windshield or they took it. The upright was there but the arm & box were gone, never found it.
Funny thing was a deputy sheriff stopped at the house & asked if I knew my mailbox was gone. I didn't.
Or the Bat bounces back and hits the Idiot in the foreheadMailbox swings. What is so funny if a box is so reinforced the bat bounces off of it and busts a car's rear window glass.
Kevin, What if you had a metal post buried but only stuck up from the ground 12 - 18 inches. Enough to take out the under side of the car (oil pan) but wouldn't stop the car.
