Looking to put my slotted rims back on my car. Been wanting to for a few years now but, cant find what I want.
This is what it looked like when I had then on. It was right after I had it painted.

Saw these today on Ebay.
Do you think the rip inside of the bead will bother anything?

Those slots look fantastic on your '64, but the tires have a lot to do with it. The "squared" off tread pattern and smooth sidewall are key to the look of the '60s but I'd never pay up for old used tires. BUT, I've rolled on 30 year old bias plys many a time, they don't blow out or delam like modern stuff.

The bead should be fine (I'd run it). As long as the side of the bead is clean without gouges it'll seat on the rim.

Bias plies look SOOOO good.
I'd put center caps on the front wheels though.
The center caps were chrome but, the chrome was crusty so, I sand blasted them and painted them black. I don’t like them black. They are on in the pictures.
I will have them rechromed.

Your car looks great in those photos! I wouldn't pay anything even close to the asking price for those tires on ebay though. You can't beat smooth black walls! Tires might not have been the best in the old days but they sure looked the part back then. I'd buy red lines if the prices weren't insane! Just won't go there. Just because we own muscle cars shouldn't mean our brains are just muscle! 🥴

I can’t remember seeing muscle cars with red or gold line tires, I’m guessing I must have but maybe not enough to remember but from around 1972 on I thought I paid pretty close attention to Muscle cars, neighbor that lived across the alley from us had a Green Heavy Chevy, biggest thing I always remembered about that car was No carpet like our trucks had lol, and it had 3 pedals & a stick 👍🙂

Those tires were the same as the eBay tires. I had the black wall out.
The tires are in Oregon and shipping would be more than the price of the tires.

I think redlines came out in 66. 65 Z16 had yellow.
I liked the look 15 years ago but, I want to change it up a bit.
Here’s my car now.

Red line tires look great on your Black car 👍👍🙂

That crack should not affect the tire BUT check the sidewall just below that cracked area for any kind of damage. Anything that's weird looking on the inner sidewall & its time to say no good

Coker tire reproduces lots of tires from back in the day. I picked up a print catalog at last years turkey trots in Daytona. Not sure I would trust NOS tires on my ride.

Redlines were available as a factory option from 64-69, so it was a fairly short-lived "fad".

I read somewhere, don't recall right now, they became available for Chevelles in 66 or 67. They were available for GTO had them in 64.
