Hagerty Car Bidding

There’s a 69 Camaro I was going to place a bid on Hagerty bidding site but then the screen shifted to a form screen saying I needed to put my info in the blanks ( I’m a Hagerty member so why?) Add my CC info 😳 and I’m not comfortable doing this, anyone ever bid on a car on Hagerty website and do all this?

I get their emails all the time. Never bid but, I know a lot of auctions ask for a CC to make sure it’s you and for a deposit so, if you back out they have something.
Not sure if they can do anything with it but, you have to agree with the auction terms.

Back in 2020 or 2021 I was a bidder in a Mecum Auction of a private collection in NC. I called and was interested in a black '67 Chevelle SS...it was real sweet! It ended up selling for $90,000. YIKES!!! I was thinking somewhere in the $50's. It was set up nicely, and it was an L34 396 car.....black on black with black vinyl top....bench seat with 4-speed! Reminded me of my old car. I ended up winning an autographed framed photo of the Honeymooners! It's on the wall in my home office. Seems like you will always spend more than you should when bidding at an auction, but that's one reason they have auctions I suppose! Still fun watching & bidding! For me, if it's really something I want I'll go for it, if within reason $$-wise. That green '69 Camaro looks real solid. I don't care for the steering wheel but everything else looks fine from what you can see. I'd definitely put a simulated wood grain steering wheel on it like stock if it were mine.

Steering wheel would probably be the only thing I’d change, Wood grain👍 🙂going to go there now and have my own reserve in mind on how high I’ll go,,,,,hope I can stick to my own limit 😁

I wish it had pics of the underside ?
Yeah, that's a huge red flag. It's very hard to imagine someone stepping up to sell their ride on this venue and not letting his buyers know the car isn't paste over steel wool from the bottom side.
That'd stop my interest right there. ......then there's the limited effort to expose the trunk pan, which from what you can see, is heavily coated with something far from oem. What's hiding underneath that mat, which would take another 5 seconds of the seller's time to set straight. I want it to be sweet car, and from the topside it is, but we all know the Gary story.

Now it wants a pic of my DL 🤔 I think I’ll wait till I talk to someone at Hagerty, this seems a little over the top to me

They probably had a lot of people thinking they could pull out and not pay if they changed their minds.
I imagine Barrett's and Mecum have the same setup ?

I just don’t understand the need for my DL, I’m a Hagerty insurance policy holder and they already have that info

My Chevelle was originally Lime Green damn near that same color.
Maybe that color will have fewer bids since some car guys are superstitious about green cars. That could only help you Rick, fingers are crossed for you
