What’d you work on today?

Cur!ous me, after a few weeks not f'ning with the furnace, a little voice says "try it one more time"......so I did. Might say in the back of my mind that little fuse box issue may have played havoc with the board and not knowing enough about that sort of voodoo, I just listened to my inner self........fired right up and it's been working as normal all day! No codes! This lead me right back to the old fuse box which I dug out of the trash and threw the ohmmeter on both sides. The left side tests out fine, the right side with the semi-fried nub gives very erratic numbers and I have to scrape a bit to get a good reading. The 120 fuse for the furnace was using the opposite side of the fried nub. Even the feed connector has been eaten away. So, after installing the new box to feed the new mini-split, the old furnace gets a bit jealous and won't have any of it, so now all's good. No regrets, I can still purchase a "cooling only" mini, or put a evap coil in the furnace, buy the condensing coil, lineset and new t-stat. That option adds up real quick, and it's just a bit more for the heat/cool mini. That would be a redundant system on heat, but a nice backup. Not sure which way to go yet.
Pics are lousy, but it's real evident in real life........

Did you use anti-ox on the lugs and push a bit into each breaker tab? That'll save major headaches down the road considering what the lugs on the old box.

I did not. Wouldnt take much. I ordered a 30 amp switch for it, the one with the cool red lit toggle.

I've never done that except when using aluminum wire.

Less of an issue with copper, but it does happen. I use anti-ox on every lug and breaker and have never had an issue. A wise old master electrician taught me that 30+ years ago. He told me it takes an extra minute but it saves hassles down the road and he never had to go back and fix an issue with any boxes or breakers.

BTW that's my 200 amp switch installed with the specific provision if I ever elected to tie into shore power without having to rewire everything and make a mess. All that has to be done is a meter can placed on the outside wall right behind the 200 amp switch and wired into the switch without disrupting anything at all giving the ability to switch back and forth, I I never have intentions of hooking into shore power, but I planned for it nonetheless.

Same here back in 1980

Finished welding new fenders on to my buddies car trailer despite the wind making its way through the partly open door.

Done despite the interruptions of having won two lotteries I never entered, and four calls concerning new medicare benefits.
Being in the Do Not Call registry is useless!
This has become the norm, not sure why the scam calls have been so heavy lately.
In Nevada ALL legitimate telemarketers are required to identify themselves and to provide an opt-out option.
NONE of the calls I get comply!

Seems the spam calls go in waves for me. I'll get a bunch (I mostly ignore them), and they taper off to none for a few weeks, then the cycle starts again.

Ever get a call from one & your own name & number pops up? Happened a couple of times here. Bunch of assholes.

Yep. If it's your number they are obviously spoofing and I don't answer. Most times I don't even refuse the calls, I just let it ring and let it go away by itself. I've been ignoring many calls lately because I was working on the house and to be truthful, I rather like not answering the calls and if it's important enough they will leave a message, and if not, then it wasn't really that important and I don't have to waste time or listen to whining or stupidity. I'm at the "I don't give a shit" point in my life and I rather like it. I've spent a lifetime caring about others and now it's my turn to be selfish, and I like it.

Son's girlfriends car won't start, Mazda 3. I took my jump pack to their apartment last night and boosted it off, thinking I would just replace the battery, when it started 1/2 of the belt flew off.

I have the trailer with me today, after work I am going back to their place and loading it on the trailer to take to my house so I can fix it for her.

What we do for our kids.
