My 69 project

So that's your oem master and hold-off valve? Never seen a BA stamp look that good, nice parts! I think you'll find a pretty easy time of rebuilding your oem calipers. The kit costs aruond $15 and it's fairly easy. If you find a small amount of corrosion on the inside of the caliper housing, no worries, just sand with 600 wet, and clean it up. Great progress so far.

Thanks I got all the brake parts spindles, backing plate, rotors, calipers, m/c, booster and hold off valve from cl. Not sure where it came from before. Guy I got it from posted all original for number correct 69

Welcome and thanks for posting. I love seeing what others are building and seeing their vision of their restoration.
I think I’ll start my own just to document for posterity.

Merry Christmas all. I had a great day with the family. Hope you enjoyed the day to. A few days ago my uncle and I got together at his shop and did some powder coating. I’ve been waiting awhile to do my springs and I am happy with the way they turned out. Wanted to get the front springs done first but ran short of time. Rear springs I scraped grease, sandblasted, acetone, baked part for oils and contaminants, powdered using gross black prismatic powder.

I want to start by saying this is not a negative for powder just not what I think fits. Did my steering knuckle in the gloss black also. Turned out good. I just like the painted better. Picture shows difference. After some research I think spindles, steering knuckle are natural on Chevelle.? My spindles already were painted black and I didn’t want to change the color hence why I did the knuckles black. Same process as rear springs. Again turn out good just not paint. Good advice from fellows here. “ powder has its place”. I plan to powder my front springs, but I think paint from now on. Picture of the powder compared to paint is in this group of pictures. Painted one is from my drums when I was on that path.

Went back out to my uncles house yesterday and finished powdercoat if the front springs. They turned out great looking. This time I went with Eastwood cast iron gray. Sandblasted, acetone, baked contaminates oils, powdered. Now I can’t wait to start putting things together.

Looks pretty sweet. She's gonna be a beauty.

Thanks, she’s my one and only first love car. …Although if they came out with a new Chevelle like they were supposed to that might change.

Not sure I'd like a new Chevelle.... I'm kinda partial to the old body styles ('67 being my favorite), but I also like a tastefully done restomod as in an old Chevelle with modern engineering is cool with me.

GM doesn’t have the guts to compete with what Chrysler did. Alas, I’m afraid we are at the end of the performance era.

Looks like you are doing a fine job with your car.

They do offer that 632 with 1004 hp on pump gas. That's better than a blown Chrysler with 848 hp. Now if they'd just sell a car with it that is smog legal.

Working on putting together more front end parts. I still have to finish measuring lengths of first tie rod. Original and new in picture.

Man this thing is coming along great !

I powder almost everything now and use Powder By the Pound. They are awesome and will color match anything, send a sample to verify or change the shade and then ship. Very affordable. Every suspension piece I do gets semi-gloss.

What you have still looks awesome.

Thanks for the info on the powder. I was against powder after the knuckle turned out more gloss looking than I wanted. My fault for using gloss instead of semi. I wanted to go cast on the knuckle and also the spindles which I think is correct color, but the spindles were already black and I didn’t want to change it so I did black. Shoulda used semi. If I get a chance I may fix it. I still need my sway bar and a few other parts to color. 4 year old is back at school today. More time. Thanks again.

Almost done. Originals with new.

Started also crossmember. Before picture and after it was powder coated. It’s been done since the frame was coated. Just laying around so I guess I’ll multitask.
