Cale's 55 Chevy

He wants to do chrome reverse steel wheels 15x8 rear and 15x6 front.

Same sizes and stance as the painted steelies on my '55.

Yesterday we shot epoxy primer on the whole shell, and high-build 2k primer on the jambs,

We have a LOT of body work to do before it's ready for paint, but this is kind of a big step that gives us some visual progress, which always helps motivate toward the next step.

Yesterday we bought this chassis that's all been rebuilt with new bushings, disc brakes, power-steering, new brake lines, sway bar, and a freshened up rear end, from a guy who turned his '56 Chevy into a gasser.

Should save a lot of time, money, and effort to make his car roadworthy.

Took me an hour with the tractor just to get the trailer yanked out of the snowbank it was buried in... froze down, ice on the driveway. 8000 lb tractor with all 4 wheels spinning on ice trying to move it

He wanted it gone, and the "thaw" would be 3 months from now since it was parked on the North side of my shop in the shade.

Since Cale has the week off for spring break, he asked Grandpa, a retired body-man who apparently works cheap for his grandkids, if he could come help work on his '55. Grandpa is staying with us for 3 days.

Day 1, the center of the dash is now painted.

Stellar times, grandad still got it! Appreciate the ride along Derek. Love the non-belair dash paint (lacking the alum. inset). Brings me back to that iconic rear seat camera in the TLB car. My biggest mistake in building a TLB clone was adding the brightwork to a true 150 utility sedan......I know, I know.

Doesn't get any better than that. Cale spending quality time with Grandpa is priceless. Remind Cale just how privileged he is to have such a Great Man teaching and helping him.

Now Cale can start some assembly work over the summer and we'll get back to body work next winter.
