Cale's 55 Chevy

Cale scored a nearly impossible find on Marketplace today. He got a pair of 15x8 Chrome Reverse wheels with Chevy bolt pattern and 4" backspace. For some reason, nobody makes these anymore.

We just need to find some 15x5 or 15x6 fronts now. Fronts won't necessarily need to be reversed, so the current available closest thing to this style new ones from Speedway Motors will probably be good enough...

Those are sweet. They make those still in that same backspace, most are double drilled pattern, but I believe it's US that does them in specific patterns. The cool thing with these is he can mismatch the fronts and imo, that's even a cooler look

Closest thing available currently is this. Notice the smooth centers without the 4 little slots between the center and the rim.

They're also not a reversed rim.
Wheel Vintiques used to make one they called "Series 64" which had the correct style center, but also not reversed rim.

If there's anyone still making an OE style center with a reversed rim without paying a fortune for custom work, I haven't found them!

In 1976 I traded my good neighbor friend ( still good friends) dad my 64 Tbird for his 65 327 PG Impala, when I washed the car the dirty black wheels showed to be 14” Chrome reverse wheels 👍😁 I got a set of baby moon caps from somewhere and Loved that look on the car 👍👍🙂

Why are they called “reverse” wheels?

Those are great, perfect for a 55? What center caps are you gonna use?

the pioneers of hotrodding actually seperated the rim and the center, flipped the rim around and welded it back to the center wherever it'd work for their needs. Then the aftermarket took the reins.
