1966 LS swap

Took a wire wheel to the block, masked off the heads and other areas and hit it with some Por 15. I couldn’t stand looking at how it was. Not perfect but I feel better with this.

Alright guys, I am ready for the pre I told you so comments but I decided to to the speed engineering headers and ls swap low profile pan. I am doing the muscle rods cross member. Will be about a week before I get all the parts but once I try and fit it I PROMISE I will be honest with how it goes! I am usually a firm believer in you get what you pay for but I have seen some good comments on the speed engineering stuff so I am happy to take a risk. Holley headers alone are over 1200 i think. Speed engineering headers and oil pan, under 600....we shall see!!! 😅

I don't blame you for trying cheaper parts. The inflation in Holley prices is crazy ! I paid less than $400 for headers and they are double ? The front-end accessory drives are up $1000 !
Holley was bought out a short time ago ? Is that why these prices are thru-the-roof ?

Holley was bought by Sentinal Capital

Thanks, I figured why not!

I still cannot get over waiting 30-45 min each time I call their tech line! Anyway yea I bet it is just corporate greed and I venture to say all of these prices all over that have gone up will never come down, why would they? My brother said he was at the depot the other day and a freaking 2x4 was 7 dollars!!!!!!! FOR ONE 2x4!!!!!!

I bought 1 sheet of 3/4 plywood from Lowes about a week ago..... $89. Prices for everything are through the roof.

$600 + $1,200 is still only $1,800. 😁 I hope you are not using the GM "muscle car swap" pan. That is definitely a no-go.

everything looks identical to the Holley 302-2
Ok. Good luck. Seems as if I just read a post about that exact pan an it was not identical and the poster ended up with a 302-2 or 3

Hopefully it works out. Save a few bucks is good.
Thanks my whole life, I always pull out the credit card and just get the best of the best but I really want to try and keep it on a strict budget for this one and see what happens.

Before I was so against Holley I bought this one (6 months ago) and I was using it with an aeromotive regulator to bring the pressure down for my carb. Now I bought the kit for the regulator to make it capable of fuel injection pressures. I also have -8 lines going from front to back, I will never need that large of a line but figured why not, who knows.

Thanks, I think the -3 is a bigger pan the -2 and the knock off one I have have more clearance. I think...so we will see. It is coming next week so I think a test fit will be happening a week from this weekend!
I believe the only difference is the -3 has a bigger hump in the center to clear a 4" stroke crank. Tie rod clearance would be the same. Keep us posted.

Since you already have the parts, you're good to go. I was going to suggest a different route if you didn't have the parts.

Make sure you get the oil pump gasket installed without pinching it. Also set the pick up tube depth. Missing these steps can cause a catastrophic failure.
Are you running a windage tray?

-3 pan is for a stroker engine. I’m running the 302-3 pan to clear the crank stroke.
