What’d you work on today?

2 years ago just as we started to move the A/C in my truck crapped out. I suspected the orifice tube was clogged and went to pull the tube out and it snapped off, so not having the time or a shop to work in I opted to wait and haven't had A/C in my truck since. Today is the day to get my A/C working again, so I pulled the evaporator core, installed the new one and have to run down and get a new accumulator and some 134a (12 oz cans), then I can flush the system, vac it down, let it sit (to make sure of no leaks), then charge it. It's been in the mid 90s the past 2 weeks and I've been sweating my ass off.

On the o-rings I use PAG oil (PAG46 refrigerant oil with Ice 32). I can't remember if I used PAG oil on the orifice tube when I installed it last time, but I will this time.

Nevada Republican Convention day 2.
I returned my credentials and walked out.
In the short couple of years I was away from the central committee there have been rules changes to streamline the Platform and Resolutions committee's.
This makes for a shorter convention but also pretty much sidelines anyone who is not some sort of professional politician.
I sat on the platform committee yesterday while thinking it was oddly and poorly organized.
The document presented for ratification today is even worse than what I saw yesterday.
The final product was concocted by a select group of FIVE!
From my perspective it is a meek, timid, surrender document, at a time when we need bold statements to triumph.
It virtually hands the elections to the democrats as they will beat our candidates over the head with it.
I was so disgusted I saw no point in remaining.

Why not raise hell with your co-committee?

Didn't get very far on the Vintage Air evaporator install. I cut a metal brace that was hitting under the dash (5 minutes).
Got the heater hoses and ac lines (#6 and #10) hooked up to the evaporator.
Used nylog on the o-rings and threads; was careful not to let it get inside the lines as it's for 410a, not 134a.
Went looking for my sound-deadening mat and finally found it 1 hour later. Wasn't too annoyed as the Kentucky Derby was on and had maybe the best race in history ?
Mystic Dan by a nostril !

After reading about the sound mat, I ordered some more plus a 150 mil mat to install over it :

This is the 1st layer; an 80 mil sticky rubber roofing type material

Need to install the sound proofing stuff before hanging the evaporator ! It will be here Monday

So nylog blue is ok for 134a in cars ? I used it on my ac lines in the Chevelle.
Yes it’s good for any refrigerant, I use it on mini splits or anything that has O rings or flare fittings just don’t use Red unless you’re not worried about ever removing it, well that’s what I was told

Supply houses still sell a blueish gray paste thread sealer that is from the Stone Age, I’ve seen it used so heavily I had a hell of a time cleaning it out of a port you screw your hoses to and showed the owner and couldn’t warranty the repair because I wasn’t sure it wasn’t in the refrig circuit

I've learned that any time I am that enraged the only thing to do is leave ASAP.
I very rarely lose my temper, but when I do just let me go. No matter who you are.

I think you're thinking about Loctite for keeping bolts from loosening. :)
There’s 2 different Nylog, Blue & Red and red is permanent from what I’ve been told from 2 different brand mini split class instructors, they both said not to use red on minis so I’ve never tried it 🙂

You, as always, are correct ! I've never heard of Nylog red, but I will never use it for sure !
