What’d you work on today?

Took the Chevelle over to my upholstery shop guys since I couldn’t seem to get the Pass side door panel on correct and left a small gap at the front bottom, well gaps still there but after market so what to do? Lol I was going to post a pic of it inside the shop but my friend is in the pic so I thought best to not post the pic, here’s one at a red light idling WO the ac on, feels very good not worrying about it not stopping fast enough so now I’m feeling better about driving it more often 👍👍🙂

Finally got a roll-up door installed on the second shop building.
These are vinyl cloth, not tin or brick.
The second building had only zipper doors, a big mistake now at least partly rectified.

Building is white Polyvinyl over hoops.
Did not do a roll-up in the second building initially as I just did not have an additional $2500+ available.
After learning just how poor a zipper door is I found a used door to put in.
So about $700 for the retrofit and looking for another door for the other end.

Finally got the "Spare" Lotus engine out of the Renault 16.
Genuine "You gotta be kidding me!" grade PITA only made easier by liberal use of the Sawzall.
Too bad it is seized but I do not need it right now, hopefully I never will.
Wet sleeve engine so even seized is not too hard to dismantle.

Roll up door on the storage shop will make moving the El Camino out much easier.

Rebuilt the power steering pump in the Starfire, traced the circuit for the convertible top and found a poor ground at the pump and fixed that, tightened the valve cover bolts, then took the Starfire for a long cruise to burn off the 9 month old gas in it (so I can put fresh 91 non ethanol in), then took Lisa for a cruise with the top down and we stopped to get some dinner to bring home. I'll take Lisa in the Starfire with the top down for an ice cream tomorrow on Mother's day.

We installed a new 2.5 ton Comfortmaker air handler and First Co 2 ton Thruwall ac unit about a month ago and now have a problem with the New Higher (Gov Mandatory) Eff. air handler, tech support said change expansion valve so I said OK…No Available supporting replacement parts from MFG yet for these new model units yet 😳 so the manager had a TXV removed from a new AH for me 👍👍 so I go get in the tight attic and open up the unit to be sure it’s the correct part and it checked out so pumped the unit down did the swap, evacuate then recharged and still same problem 2.5-3 hrs later 🤬 so now it’s wait till Mon to talk to tech support to find out what the hell is going on, pressures look good, superheat & subcooling aren’t great but ok but only getting a 2* air temp change, I’ve found with these damn Thruwall ac units it’s better to go 1/2 ton larger on air handler but these new units now I’m not 100% sure, or just more incurable Shit from China, Oh this was working Great,,,for about 4 weeks 🤨

Bunch of BS. These guys should know beyond a shadow of doubt how to make changes to their systems, not pull it out of their ass and tell you to try it out.

It’s Very aggravating and other condo owners have said to me “ You’re here a lot” I’ve installed the same system 2 doors down and it had a DOA motor on the Thruwall unit, 3 days waiting for a replacement motor then the counter guy ordered the wrong one so over nigh the correct motor, this looks Terrible on my company and I did explain to one of the neighbors what the problems been and I’m doing every thing I can to make it right, the unit with the bad factory motor I gave them an Extended 1 year labor warranty and probably do the same on this one, Pissed about this Shit is putting it Mildly, Oh chick in my local branch told me she could get the part I changed today June 6th 😳 manager in Clwt had a guy pull it out of a new in box unit, That’s taking care of business 👍👍 well even though that wasn’t the problem but I’d sure thought it was along with my installer/friend/partner off paper and tech support thought,,,,,and I still haven’t pulled all my hair outta my head, def getting too old for tight attic work lol PS Rant Over 😆

Lost a pin out of the Satoh front plow support last weekend. I had to remove the plow because I needed to mow and a hydraulic fitting had broken. It was my fault, I used hair pins instead of cotter pins.

I went to a industrial store, got a fitting and a grade 8 bolt and nut. Then Tractor supply for a cobalt bit and cotter pin. I reinstalled the plow, not an easy job, and realligned the support. The bolt and nut worked perfectly and for assurance I drilled a hole in the bolt for a cotter pin.

So far we have had 3 chicks mamas have hatched, 2 more came yesterday and last night. Feed stores are still selling out of them fast, here is a cheap alternative. Only thing is there is a 50% shot of getting roosters.

Also fixed the mower deck of the riding mower, tried to put my welding class to use. My little 120V welder can only do so much but I repaired the bracket by adding more steel and took her for a test mow.
