The GC I do work with in the city is starting the excavating and forming tomorrow, he came in at $5,950 for Niagara 3,000 psi for the entire job, besides I’d rather work with someone I already do business with and when I’ve worked on his own home I gave him 1 He’ll of a Big Favor a few years back and he doesn’t forget like a lot of people do he even brought it up how I helped him get a brand new heat pump under warranty then I installed it for $250, nice doing business with these kind of people, plus his price was pretty damn good

Levy county made me have the mouth of our driveway 44'. Not sure if St. Pete will have you widen the mouth or not.

Ours needs to be 16’ for the 12’ driveway entrance then once on property they don’t care how wide Edit we live in Res T1 area so only 12’ wide DW is allow

Well the GC was supposed to let me know last evening what time they’d be here this morning but never heard from him so figured I’d better be ready for the concrete guys fairly early so I got up at 4am thinking they might be here 6-7 so at 7:45 I texted the GC for an ETA…they didn’t finish a job yesterday so they need to go back there and start mine Friday so I text back “Pour Monday?” and nothing back so now I get RE-RE-schedule my work day instead of a day off work day, Oh Well could be worse I guess

Yeah, been there already with building our new place. They say they will be there and never show up. No calls, no nothing. When the concrete guy was late 2 days from when he said he'd pour, I took a picture and sent it to him asking "What's wrong with this picture"? He responded in under 20 seconds saying "I'm not there. I'll be there tomorrow morning to pour", and he did.

I guess I’ll know more in the morning but I damn sure not getting up that early tomorrow to make sure the forms are where I want, any Fuck Ups on them, I like doing things once

Well they got the area excavated and almost formed and coming back in the morning to finish forming then inspection Mon and hopefully pour Tues, city sidewalk and apron needs 3,000 psi cement with wire but Non Fiberglass but driveway is getting 3,000 psi and FG but no wire, what John the GC says it’s the way he does them so good enough for me…heck I’m an AC guy with 45+ yrs doing Const. but not up on new ways of doing that stuff, John even offered to just introduce me to his concrete guys (less $ for me) and let me handle it, I said I’d rather pay you to over see the job to make sure I’m getting it done right because I’d really rather do what I do to make a buck and you know what you’re doing with this end Florida Boys Excavating Forgot to mention the FIOS wire that was only under the grass 4” got cut in the first 30 min so my buddy that’s a splicer came over and spliced it back together but Frontier is coming tomorrow

I forgot to mention the city charged $134 for the permit and only inspect the apron and sidewalk to be within the 12’ wide 16’ apron and wire code, and won’t look at the finished kid just the form before the pour, they Do Not allow FG reinforced WO wire, GC says they’re behind the times ?

Cable guy replaced the FIOS drop but it’s laying across the yard, guy will be here next week? To put it under ground, concrete guys are a No Show today so that means finish forming and wire Mon, inspection Tues and pour Wed…I guess

The lead guy about my age showed up at 11 and working on it so maybe Mon inspec and Tues pour? Don’t know if I already posted a pic of this composite landscape timber but it seems like good No Rot stuff, the landscape Timbers under my 2 - 10’ wide back gates is rotting after 7-8 yrs, these are what I use to keep the dogs from digging out and drop gate rods down into, $25.58 each, I only needed 3

Lead guy said Tues inspec Wed pour, so that’s fine since I’m not swamped with work right now so I can meet the inspector and should be able to be here when they pour, he said 7am so we’ll see, almost done making screen frames then prime & paint, screen, screen molding and another coat of paint, might need to leave the table and 12” chop saw out just to cut some wood for Racket tomorrow to Bug the Azzhole next door lol

Well, waiting on the lead guy (Be here at 8am) to show up to put the wire in the form for the sidewalk & apron AND waiting for the Inspector,,,Who'll show up first LOL, it's 8:30

The GC came around 8:45 and the concrete guys came about 10 min later, we fixed a low ponding area so it'll run water off, No Niagra cement now, lead guy said he called Fri for a Wed pour but now there's no record of that so getting Carrolls 3,000 psi concrete, no inspector yet

Doesn't any contractors do what they say they'll do, or are we to accept poor service as a standard now? Pretty sad state.

Inspector said things were Not correct about the sidewalk, needed to be WI 2% of level, 1 side .06% other side 2.6% so I asked if I could fix it while he had his digital level ther so it’s fixed but they need more wire and now a Friday pour I thought they done this shit before lol

They have to justify their job. When I lived in St. Pete, I pulled a roof permit and the inspector got on the roof to tell me the spacing was incorrect between the tab of the top and the start of the shingle above. I asked him how many roofs he installed and he said none, and then I said, yep, and it shows, you don't know jack shit. I then pulled the paper cover off the shingles (yes, it used to be paper covering vs they have plastic now) and showed him what the manufacturer recommended install distance and spacing was and he shut his mouth.

MFG instructions of approved bldg materials always over rides local/Nat codes, BTDT but this driveway is new to me and why I wanted to meet with the inspector, I don’t know any better so would rather hear what they expect and do the job Once he was very cool about everything and didn’t mind me banging the frame down until he approved it with his fancy level lol BTW I get along great with the Mechanical inspectors and usually hardly look over my jobs because they know my work but this city is a big PITA

Next project that I might have the same GC is a new garage roof, I wanted to knock this garage down in 2014 but the city wouldn’t approve a metal bldg with a metal roof unless my house had a metal roof to match or metal bldg has same roof as house anyway that’s the next ClusterFuck lol
