Cement Driveway Price?

The slab for my barndominium was 30' x 100' monolithic pour with 16" x 16" footers and 4" slab (5" in some places because I flooded the dirt), and that was over 55 yards @ $19,600.00 which included labor.

Took ten (10) 18 yard dump trucks full of fill dirt to build the slab up 12" above grade, but since the property is pitched by the time it got to the end of the foundation, it was 28" above grade.

I just had a driveway put in last week at my new building next door to my shop.
$7800. labor and materials. 36` X 15`, 8" thick with fiber and rebar.
They also did a 5` X 36` sidewalk across the back.
Building is almost done. (y)

Very Nice! I thought I’d be around 8-10K for 18’x23 at 4” deep, Cemex plant manager told me around $1,500-2,000 for concrete alone so I’m now guess $4-5K so not such a dent but still pisses me off the JackAss next door causing this

I went to the bldg dept to get a game plan going since I hadn’t heard back from the GC yet, I swear I think I was talking to 1 of the Ding Bats from 2014 when I wanted a pre mfg garage, she changed my drawings to what She Thinks is OK but I stopped the Approval Stamp because I don’t want to be locked to her Shit, permit tech followed me out wondering what was wrong, I said I want to go over everything with the other guy I’m working with and that’s why I didn’t pull a permit yet, jeez

Yep. I went to put a new roof on my house in St. Pete and you'd swear they wanted to know who made each nail before it was pounded in.

St. Pete building dept are a bunch of idiots. I told you prepare to be fucked.

No permit needed here in town for a driveway. My builder got all permits for the foundation and the roof and the guy who did the block got that one.
Builder knows the town inspector and all he had to do is send pictures of what he did.
I had him put a bathroom in and connect it to the house septic without getting a permit. No problem.

Where I live that'd be fine too, but in St Pete, no way no how. They want to justify their jobs for doing nothing but throwing wrenches into everything.

I know the mechanical inspectors but not building inspectors, another reason I wanted the GC I do ac jobs for with the city to do the driveway but still haven’t heard back from him, don’t know if he got sticker shock on the $13,800 bid I gave him to put a new 3.5 ton 15.5 seer heat pump system in a house that never had central ac along with adding 2 bath fans & ventilation ? Edit here if you add central ac to a house you also need to vent the dryer if it has a laundry room and add bath fans to any bathroom and to be ducted outside, all ducting to be code approved materials for each type vent

The concrete cont that the Cemex plant manager rec’d came in $8,000 the GC I know was supposed to work on a quote today so ? I don’t think I won the bid on this last estimate for a city ac install but oh well can’t win them all, 8K sounds like another new BBC to me 😀

Can't win them all Rick, but that's okay. Every no you get is one step closer to a yes the next time.

That is crazy, modifying a house's ducts just because central a/c was installed.

The house doesn’t have any ducts only window ac units, we need to lay out where to cut new holes in plaster ceilings then mount and seal the duct boxes that the ceiling Lou reef grills screw to then run new ducts to a plenum we grill make on site and use UL approved tape then mastic all the ducts runs, new copper refrigeration lines for both liquid and suction, suction line 7/8” copper needs to be insulated, 3/8” copper line for drain pump, and 15 SEER 3.5 ton Heat Pump equipment installed plus all misc so that price included labor and material and equipment and permit plus 1 year labor warranty and if anything ever happened bad concerning the ac system I’m on the hook or news, 9 supply ducts 3 return air ducts 🙂 this new iPhone writes what it wants to write lol, louvers

Sticker shock ? That's a great price !
I was quoted about 13k just for the ductwork on a previous house that didn't have central air.
So I installed two mini-splits and didn't have to have any duct work :)

The way this house is laid out it would cost more $$$$ to do mini splits, and local Gov is doing the loan that ....gets? paid back so it's all Low Ball pricing, I believe I lost the bid even being as low as I came in with my bid, I did see some of the other contractors work when it needed repairs and they weren't available, Hacks lol

Well I’m back at the Cooco Nest…I mean bldg dept, this is all I can do and it Sucks, 1st bid was $8K guy I work with will be by today with a cement finish guy and give a bid then a 3rd guy will be by tomorrow 4-5pm
