Wanna see a 68 go for silly money?

68 resto-mod on BAT. BAT usually gets a premium price for almost everything. Red 68.

    Larson SBC valve covers, $1,200

Not really wanting to sell them but pretty desperate to raise funds to buy a CNC mill and nothing else seems to be getting any interest. I have a little paint clean up to do but I painted and polished them, they look great and are VERY rare. These have the crossed flags on them. Pics are prior...

How to attach a braided copper lead to steel?

My golf car motor repair failed. Tried to TIG the stub of the old stud to a new bolt. Seemed fine, until I began to install and it detached. Looks like it was originally spot welded in a fixture. I have no spot welder or the fixture. Wondering if I might expect some success with careful brazing...

I lolled at this one! "New Corvair"

For those with too much money and a warped sense of nostalgia. Corvair Camaro I have had to work at NOT buying another 65-69 Corvair, I had a lot of fun with the last one until I HAD to sell it after really pissing off a dumb cop. But this thing is truly laughable!

1.25" OD .065" wall aluminum or SS tube that I can bend 90º without wrinkles or cracks?

1.25" OD .065" wall aluminum or SS tube that I can bend 90º without wrinkles or cracks? Alloy or SS will be fine, it is just for water tubes to replace the rusty old steel pieces. Do not want to weld it. Want to form it on my tube bender from a single piece, so 10' sections. Need to be able to...

MAC being weird today, Google related?

All of a sudden my MAC Safari browser is nearly dead. I cannot do any searches or access any site I do not already have in my history or bookmarks. At first I thought it was my web connection but other browsers still work fine. I noted that when I killed off my Google account some features of...

With the crazy prices of mundane cars now, this '35 Auburn looks pretty good!

35 Auburn with a 396/4-speed! True classic not likely to depreciate so long as condition is kept up. Not mine but would rack up the miles if it were.

Carb cleaning to remove stains in castings.

Basically none of the 'Net suggestions for home brew aluminum cleaners really work for castings that have water stain/black spots damage. Vinegar is no better than plain water. A nylon brush may remove dirt and soft crud but has No effect on stains. Cream of Tartar & Vinegar paste is a waste...

No bias, the fix is not in for EV's.

Just tried to find some signs prohibiting EV's to post on my property. There are none available, all search results were for "EV Parking only", "EV Parking while charging", "EV charging", etc. So I will have to get them custom made. Maybe I will get a few extra to put on feeBay.

Experience with vacuum pumps for power brakes?

My IR Weber system has no provision at all for vacuum. But the El Camino still has power brakes. I have a vacuum pump but have to wonder if it will be at all satisfactory? I so also have a canister that goes with it. Inglese made the proper manifold with an underside plenum, but production...

    Anyone have a Benwil TP-9 or TP-7, 2-post lift?

Anyone have a Benwil TP-9 or TP-7, 2-post lift? My TP-9 is missing the original Base. The base is used as a template for setting up. I need to know the width apart from the back side of each column. Original manual shows 144-3/4" for the tabs at the outside edge of the base. But I do not know...

Weiand water pumps now Chinese, still any good?

I almost bought a Weiand polished aluminum water pump this morning but held off after learning they are now Chinese made. Really tired of American brands pimping for the Chinese, quality usually goes to 'Biden' at the same time. :( Looking for US made all I could find was Meziere, and $500 vs...

WTB, 68 Chevelle/El Camino gauge cluster, need not be working.

In order to get my 68 on the road faster I may have to delay making the custom gauge cluster. I would like a spare to use as a pattern so I can work on it while the car is on the road. I do not even need the gauges, just the insert, and it can be pretty rough so long as the shape is right.

Pocketing Brownfield/AFR heads under inside center 4 head bolts?

In order to get my Scorpion shaft rockers to fit my Brownfield (Same as early AFR) heads the simple solution is to cut the pockets for the manifold side center four head bolts .150" deeper. If I could find thinner washers I could cut a little less. I also have to shorten the same studs .400". So...

Time for pushrods, which to buy?

I need to make the measurements but it is almost time to buy my custom pushrods. SBC 333' built for sustained high rpm and using Scorpion shaft rockers. Looking for light weight that will not fail. Too many companies to contact them all, and of course all of them claim to be "The best". So which...

    Formed mesh as inner fenders?

I need to apply a barrier or inner fender to the El Camino front clip and several other fiberglass projects to prevent rocks coming off the tires and starring the body. Some of them have very little room, so little that owners resort to just a thick undercoat. I doubt undercoat really does the...

Rebuilt T10 close ratio 4-speed value?

Reconsidering some of my projects in lite of current and expected future funding levels. Need to look at my parts more often, T10 not Saginaw. If I give up doing one of my Buick V6 based builds the cast iron T10 close ratio 4-speed becomes surplus to my needs. This is not a claimed...

My little mid-engine exotic is a Lotus Europa...

which I have literally waited to have since 1972. Back when they were new the salesmen would not even talk to me. Iv'e mentioned it before in other threads, one of my "Bucket list" - Obsession cars. The restoration is going slow but today I got my new valve-train. 7mm stem valves instead of 8mm...

    Block and head cleaning?

Now that the EPA has forced the machine shops to abandon what really worked how are we to clean our blocks and heads for rebuilding? I do not have access to an oven or hot tank. Could build a hot tank but no one will sell me the chemicals. Wondering if my reverse electrolysis tank would be...

WTB, Aluminum or light steel flywheel for 327 and Muncie.

The one I had seems to have gotten tired or waiting to be used and rolled itself away? Or it was stolen by some of the contract "Help" I hade here a year ago. In any case I need another and hate to pay retail, so what have you got?
