Show me yer plug wire setup, pretty please

Just wondering what others are using to keep the plug wires off the headers. I’ve got some generic 4-3-2 keepers but theydon’t tidy it up well and don’t fit right. I kind of like the ones that encase The wires in a channel that runs parallel to the valve covers. Don’t know if it alters but...

Might have posted about this before but my transmission screeches

Screeching sound coming from the TC area. Like maybe a flywheel rubbing on a metal shield, or a brake rotor rubbing on a dust shield, that sort of sound. Sometimes it’s a chirp, sometimes it doesn’t do it, sometimes it’s continuous. It’s clear watching it spin while running that the flex...

    Bad float on fuel sender?

Gas gauge reads zero with about 2 gallons of gas. I haven’t filled it up yet. Unplugged the sender at the harness, gauge goes to full. Ground the car end of the plug, gauge goes to zero. Iirc that’s what it would do if the sender is good, yet still reads zero. Bad float perhaps?

Anyone done a 4spd auto conversion and installed a vacuum TC lockup?

Last time I had a manual switch on the dash. I’d like to put in a vacuum switch. Anyone done it? I see now there are kits you can get.

    Oh joy.

Yesterday I heard the furnace making a funny noise. Went up to the attic to find it full of smoke. Long story short the HVAC guys are coming today to replace the entire system. Pretty soon I’ll have to write a check for 2/3 of what I paid to get two masters degrees 30 years ago 😵‍💫 It’s been...

And they say kids don’t like classic rock

My 13 year old had his School of Rock show last night - Deep Purple vs Blue Oyster Cult. It blows me away how much better he’s gotten since he first picked up a guitar a year and a half ago. It blows me away that these are all KIDS, 13-14 years old.

Guitar hobby is getting a little crazy

Every time I find a good deal, I buy it. Picked up a couple of Asian made L5 style jazz boxes for $150 each, plus a Marshall valvestate half stack for $50 at a thrift store, Marshall combo amp, 4x12 cab, 5150 half stack, and a couple of vintage Alamo tube amps. Traded a guy for a frankencaster...

    This Camaro

I know the seller, he’s a dealer but he’s honest and fair. In fact, I‘ve told him in the past he was not asking enough. Whataya think? https://www.ebay.com/itm/204524850740?fbclid=IwAR3dcpasUk5AuUSPDtNJFRQopv9sWQqHI_vIe5udntDLoy6WSbaGTuXZ1zo

Having trouble getting the wiper/washer to work

The instructions with the Autowire kit were vague at best. I get nothing when I activate the switch, no motor no washer pump. It’s possible either the switch or the motor are bad but I want to get the wiring nailed down first. My thoughts are wiring is the most likely followed by the dash...

See any reason I couldn’t use this radiator?

Most of the replacement radiators I’m seeing are the larger size, 33” wide. My radiator support can handle that size but I'd have to rearrange some things and since the 3 row small block radiator I had worked fine I'd just like to go that route. I think this one will work. I'd prefer the...

What’s the consensus on Champion aluminum radiators?

I just feel like pushing the easy button on my leaky radiator. I’ve seen the Champion aluminum radiators on EBay and Jegs for 250ish. Undoubtedly they are made in China but are they any good? Or would I be better off having my 25 year old parts store replacement repaired? I’d rather just...

Same question as the hood spring, only horns

Both of my horns are bad. I managed a pathetic little beep out of one once, but all I hear now is the relay. It doesn't look like I can take the horns apart easily to repair them And of course, reproduction horns are assinine, and people want almost as much for used ones. I can get newer...

    Interchange for hood latch spring?

Like anything classic car related, the springs for the hood part of the hood latch are stupid expensive. I can get a compression springs at Ace for $5. I'm just not sure of the specifics especially the rate. Anyone have specs and a source, McMaster Carr maybe?

Husqvarna riding mower with Briggs and Stratton.

Trying to troubleshoot an issue with the engine. Barely runs, throttle all the way up into choke and barely runs enough to move under its own power. It was running fine then died, then would only barely run on restart. Had some bad gas last year, cleaned the gas tank, lines and carb...

    Turn signal/brake light/tail light issues

Trying to get the lights squared away in the Autowire harness in my 69. Headlights tailights and marker lights seem to be fine. brake lights are intermittent. Sometimes I have none, sometimes both, sometimes one or the other. I’ve traced it to the connector area at the turn signal switch...

Rear brakes won’t bleed - no fluid

C5 front brakes, Camaro rear disks, eBay chrome vacuum reservoir with a replacement 69 disc brake Mc. I originally had a chrome MC for disc/disc cars but had to replace it. Currently there is no fluid to the rears. Cracked the line at the distribution block and fluid comes out. Pedal is...

    Electric fan running constantly

New install using the Autowire electric fan harness. The temp sensor is good as the dash shows temp. Relay maybe? It was a new one that came with the kit.

Anyone used a Caprice steering box?

If so, do you remember what pressure hose you used for the power steering pump? It’s been 17 years since I installed it, and I have no idea where my notes are and I can’t remember. Oldsmobile soundos familiar, maybe 85-89.

Did I screw this up somehow? Chevelle script emblems.

I put the Chevelle by Chevrolet on the deck lid because the holes matched up. Tried to test fit the other one on the front but it doesn’t line up with the holes. Tried it on the deck lid and it doesn’t work there either. I can’t remember what emblems were there. I guess maybe I’ll just get...

    Rear bumper alignment issues

Got the rear bumper installed. Took me a bit because I had to repaint the tail light housings. It looks “ok”. Not great, and it’s not tightened down all the way. The issue is when the upper two bolts on the outer brackets are tightened all the way up, the top of the bumper gets pushed up...
