What’d you work on today?

I'm past that point of dropping the trans with the engine still in the car. So much easier to pull the engine and trans and do it outside the car. I have the Hazard Fright trans jack I use to support the trans and bolt it to the block, otherwise I'm not getting on my back. That shit hurts too damn much. I look like a cripple if I try to get off the floor now. Roll onto my stomach and then get on all fours, and look for something to steady me to stand back up again. Do that enough times in one day and you'll think twice about doing that again.
I spoke to a friend that was co owner of the shop that finished the body work on my car, my other friend that was co owner and helped me a bunch was found dead of a heart attack 1/1/23 but the other owner said I was welcome to bring the car back to do the swap, same place we swapped the 454 to 489, there’s a 2 post lift there and think I can leave the engine in doing that, I did have the trans pretty much out last time I swapped convertors laying on the ground though with the HF jack, guess I’ll wait and see since I really hate owing favors

I’ll be removing a 3.5 ton air handler and 3 ton heat pump that made a matched 3 ton 15 SEER heat pump system that I installed in 2010 this Sat, Kevin if you want it it’s yours and still works fine, it’s in my old mechanics house he passed away last year and his wife is having me install a 24K Mitsubishi mini split Friday, they always left it set at 77* it’s an Amana/Goodman but built before they had leak issues

Yep, I'll take it, you tell me when to come get it. I figure it'll take about 3 hours for me to get down there.

Changing out this 3 phase roof top 5 ton unit Wed but you wouldn’t want it even if it was single phase, flooded evap coil full of compressor oil and been beat to death lol, it’s on the eye glass lab I do work at, Sunshine Optical

I should have it out Sat afternoon, I can leave it on my trailer and if you want to pick it up Sunday or Sat eve or Monday 😂 whenever you want lol

Hey Kevin I also buy a few things from SupplyHouse.com but mostly replacement parts for my SMAN3 digital gauges etc but the prices aren’t too bad if you should need something hard to find 👍🙂

I am going to MD this weekend for a week and I have to take a side trip to Philadelphia on Monday. That city is very tight and poorly designed and with the bridge collapse who knows what traffic I will be dealing with, not the place for the Excursion.

We take the Excursion because our dogs need to ride in their cage, they have ridden thousands and thousands of miles to over half of the US States and still can't sit their butts down. Anyway, I am going to load a Fusion on the trailer, cart it to MD and drive it the 3+ hrs to Philadelphia.

I pulled the trailer up to the house, cleaned it off, checked the lights and tires, was on a roll. I then jacked it up and then I realized I never packed the wheel bearings since 2007, when we got it. Dug deeper and found equalizer and shackle bushings worn out. I got on the jungle website and ordered the parts, still have to inspect all of the bearings, I have 1 outer that may need replacement. Good news is the brakes are good.

I am not complaining, besides lights I haven't done much to that trailer and it sits outside all of the time so not too bad.

We replaced a bad 2009 5 ton rooftop ac unit, we were moving pretty quick while the crane was there cause didn’t want to hold him up he had other jobs to get to so didn’t take any pics while he was there so pretty much before and after, the old units had been sat on 4x4’s instead of the code approved curbs so we put the new unit back where it belonged, Goodman new warehouse and new crew were a real Clusterfuck and ended giving me a 2 stage ac unit instead of the single stage I ordered and paid for so had to go back and get a 2 stage Tstat but it all worked out, I didn’t know it was 2 stage till I started hooking up the wires for Tstat

We had a break in the hot weather. Temps dipped into the high 60's so I decided to install mulch under the solar panels.
Sams Club had a roll of landscaping fabric for $38 that was 4' X 250' . I used it all and then started covering with mulch.
I wanted cedar mulch for longevity but it was sold out. I guess everyone knows it's the best ?
So I bought what's called "Playground chips".
My trailer can only hold one cubic yard and it took three trips. I shoveled every square inch and I'm feeling in pretty good shape !
:p

This pic was taken after the first two loads. The 3rd load covered everything and I had extra for laying it on thick.
The mulch was $43 cubic yard. I bought 3 cu yds and the fabric was $40. I spent about $20 for stakes to hold the fabric down.
Total cost = $189

Started a Mitsubishi 24K mini split install today for my old mechanics widow, I’ll be removing the 15 seer Amana 3 ton heat pump system and between this and a used 12K Mit someone else installed in the back of the house should keep it Very comfortable and fairly inexpensive to run, didn’t get as far as I’d like to today but the hard parts done, using the 2.5” core drill on an angle was a little interesting lol, can’t drill through a lintel so had to do a cpl 90’s on the refrig lines with my ratchet bender, here’s the heat pump coming out that works great and I forgot to write Kevin’s name on it but it is His 😆 Forgot to mention I installed the Amana system 🙂

Excursion has 350 miles to do on Sunday up the coast, filled it up, I ain't cracked open the hood since Pennsylvania, I guess I had better check stuff.

The Excursion will be dragging the flat trailer behind it with a Fusion on it, trailer is in pieces in the driveway. Just installed new equalizers and nylon bushings, next is bearing repacks and torque everything up. The bearings are already out, more cleaning needed then a good packing with red and tacky. That is how I knew I have never packed them, I always use red and tacky.

Lotus Europa and a T-Bucket are VERY different cars.
But both are easier to work on with the body off.
Body is not off the T-Bucket, so the master cylinder retrofit for dual circuit brakes has been a real PITA.
And of course the one item not initially changed out became a problem, the rear flex line.
Completely plugged. Once that was changed the system bled normally.
So tomorrow I will bump the timing up, check over hardware, and Brian will finally be able to drive it.
Then I can go back to working on my Lotus.

I guess no bites on the truck?

Over 500 clicks and not a single inquiry.
I've sold some other items so plan to make my last long trip soon.
Picking up another Lotus body that has never been wrecked, still in original paint.
Truck may end up parted out, engine could go into my El Camino until the trick 327 is finished.

Worked on a 24K Mitsubishi mini split install the last 2 days and still need to finish a few things but this system works like a Champ and I Highly recommend Mitsubishi brand for Inverter technology ac systems, took a little longer than expected but seems everything seems to take longer the older I get 😂 Customer is my old mechanics widow and she’s Very Happy with it, I still need to install the PVC line covers and remove the Amana central air handler out of a closet that I installed in 2010
