What’d you work on today?

Gave up on waiting for the '66 malibu to sell, so put it in the car trailer and pushed this into the shop. Set it up on stands and assessed the battle going forward. Kind of better and less intensive than I thought, or planned. Really looking forward to sinking my teeth deep into this project. Going day 2 with it, restore to as factory, but headers and aftermarket wheels, crows foot TTs. Back to original rally red after some fiberglass repair and replacement.

That's one of my all-time favorite cars. 66 and 67 Vettes were the best ever.
I would build the oval port version as a sleeper.
I love it when you can beat someone's pride and joy with a good idling quadrajet car. LOL

Put up a second FB posting to dispose of the C30.
$2,500 without the rebuilt 350 and FI system.
Engine moves the 6K Lb. truck fairly well, should be fun in the El Camino until I can fini$h the hot 327.

Started pulling the interior and trim off the vette. Passenger seat took me over an hour, then I figured out the trick and driver's took me 5 min.
This little gold mine was scattered under there, ranging from '59 to '82, most of them being in the 60s and early 70s, all real copper pennies. Then I found this, a 1943 silver quarter, pretty cool. Not a coin collector by any means, but I love archeological digs in old cars. A quick study revealed around $8 value, with specific irregularites ranging to $1000......this doesn't seem to be anything rare, but still cool. Stumped on a couple things beings I've never pulled apart an early vette, so have to seek help from the gooroos over at the vette forum.
Oh, a bobby pin, bianca blast, and a live 22 shell and a 3030 casing were also unearthed.

90* PVC line cover fitting came in yesterday so I went over and finished the Mitsubishi 24K mini split install for my old freind & mechanics widow, I’m happy with how it came out, code doesn’t allow cutting through a concrete Lintel so I had to go below it and through a hollow block but on an angle to clear bracket for the awning outside the window, she’s happy, I’m happy 👍🙂 picking up the Amana system from her garage in the morning then cleaning the coil and blower housing & wheel 👍👍🙂

Man you guys got nice projects coming out of your ears. I got one car and I still ain’t near done with it.

Fixed the C30 turn signals, have to re-bundle some wires, then heading out to do a thousand mile round trip.
Picking up a much nicer Lotus body as it will be cheaper and faster than fixing the original ex-racer shell.

A while back, my daughter hit something with her Mustang and bent the hood. She got one from a junkyard, and bought a new bumper cover and I finally got around to painting them last weekend. Saturday, I sanded everything and got it all in hi build, then Sunday, blocked it down and did the base and color. I used the Wanda base with Upol 4:1 clear and I am pretty pleased with how it came out. I'd have had better results if it had not been over 100 in the grage with 90% humidity, but I can cut and buff it to get it looking better. She's happy anyway. I told her that wa her 31ast birthday present, her birthday was yesterday.
I did this all in one stall of a cramped 2 car garage. Goddam my ex to hell for costing me my oversize 3 car garage!!

painting in 100 degrees?! You use slow hardener? You get a lot of orange peel?

Looks good!

Slow hardner and reducer, and a little bit of orange peel. I've used this clear before and you can really hammer on the 2nd coat with no peel under better conditions. That was the weekend that I had to work on it, so I did the best I could. Its no show car, but for a 200K mile, well cared for driver, it'll do. If past experience is any indicator, she'll hit something else with it eventually/ This is the 3rd front bumper cover on it and the rear is the 2nd one...
I took the gas door to the paint store and I will say they did a hell of a job of matching the color. White is hard.

Got home from the MD coast yesterday, unloaded the car from the trailer, immediately loaded the Allis Chalmers on to it, put a cover on it and parked it in the back "trailer area". Unloaded the gold Chevelle from the car hauler, it is in the garage. Towed the car hauler up to the driveway and got it ready to be a moving van/ storage locker for my son for 2 weeks. I sure hope he has help from friends to move out of this second floor apartment, I don't want to get down on my back.

Learned a long time ago with all our moves paying someone else to move the stuff is money well spent. Trust me, your body will thank you.
