What’d you work on today?

I installed an axle back exhaust on my '24 Mustang today. I had alredy done an 'H' pipe, and really wanted the quad tip exhaust, and the axle back was the only way to get it. Borla and Roush axle backs are almost $1,000, this one is from NXT and very nice for $450. The sound is not a lot louder, but very deep and I like it a lot. The only other thing I'll do to this car is a dual cold air intake once they become availble. I priced a Ford rear spoiler from the performance package cars, my price is $2,100!! There is not a lot of aftermarket stuff for them yet.

I had a few discussions with Mitsubishi and Gree tech support (I'm a dealer of both) about a better filter or using a pre filter and was told by both of them that using anything other than the filter designed for the unit will damage the unit, I installed a 2 ton mini in a 2 story high dispatch tower at a local cement plant that gets dirty way to often, Kevin if you say it worked well doing that I'm going to give that a try at the cement plant

I did not tape or fasten it in any way. Just laid it on top and it collected lots of dust, but the unit filter was much cleaner using it. Don't get me wrong, the unit filter still had dust, but far less that if I hadn't used the pleated filter laying on top. I won't do that inside the house, but in the shop where there is always dust and debris in the air it served its purpose.

I was thinking making a frame around the top of the unit to ceiling on 3 sides and cut widow ac filter material found at Home Depot or Lowes and trying with and without factory filters

I finished the cooler relocate today, Steve from OCS is down from Mi and came by earlier but I still was working on the car and still on jack stands so I wasn’t able to take him for a ride or any video for his YouTube channel but Oh well still very nice meeting him and we talked about his 68 SS396 Elky and and sound from his rearend? that’s rebuilt Edit I see a clamp I forgot to put back on, pics are a Fanastic way to see things that got or get over looked 👍

Yep, that's pre-filter media and adds next to 0 restriction. It needs to be changed often but it can be blown clean. They also make a roller dispenser with that stuff so you can just give it a twist every week or so. Kinda like the Way-Outs.
 
Got the new fuse box roughed in and the new circuit wired. Piece of cake they said, take you 2 hours they said.........well after 5 hours and 3 trips to the hardware store, here it is. I ran everything in conduit when I built this shop, beings it had no insulation or rock. I added all that later. So, had to hack the upper feeds up, the lower feeds down, and the side feeds also. Had to pull wire out of harm's way because several were so close I had to use a sawsall vs. a tubing cutter. Hard part's done!!! Hopefully have the power back on tomorrow.

We used to cut our own filters for our welding cabinets at Nissan. I would lay this on top of the mini-split :

I’m going to give that a try, I’ve used it before but on reg central systems, I even asked when I was bidding “Do you get cement dust up here?” And was told “Oh no it never gets up here”, but it gets on everyone’s boot then they wipe their feet inside even though there’s a mat outside the door, just a really bad environment for a mini to be in

It wouldn’t hurt to put a surge/lightning arrestor on the new panel, last time I bought one was Pre Covid and around $35 but don’t know what they are now
 
Snow and wind discouraged me from the trailer welding project so I spent much of the day taking pics of collectible 303B ammunition I have left over from my gun shop days, going for sale on Gun-Breaker.
Got pics of some MGB engines and trans to sell too.
Not my most productive day.
 
Buttoned up the panel today........so glad I did this! Believe I dodged a bullet, the good Lord seems to steer me in directions that I later see why, but yeah, it's always with a fight. The little bitty box that I was stuffing wafers in to the limit was toast. For 25 years I've been using the 30 amp breaker for the compressor as a switch, since it has a slow line leak. Next on the to-do list is install a dedicated throw. I now recall my smart buddy telling me that using a breaker as a switch just aint right.......but never backed it up with any reason, well.......here's the reason. It apparently was arching and fried one leg dpwn to a nubbin. Not sure how it was completing the circuit???

You were very lucky on that one for sure. The Good Lord and a few guardian angels were watching over you. Not sure how long the box and breaker have been in use, but in the earlier days some breakers didn't come pre lubed with anti-ox and the constant flipping of the breaker over time caused the teeth of the breaker to rub the busbar and the more it rubbed the weaker the connection got. Years ago when my son Paul was doing a service call with a master electrician (Paul was an apprentice) he witnessed the same thing and helped his boss swap out a panel for the very same reason (fried tab on the busbar) because of a bad breaker that kept tripping and the homeowner was too lazy / stupid to replace the breaker or call someone to fix the problem.

Always feels good to get a project done. Looks good.
